I usually have a difficult time rating places five stars, but this one is exceptionally unique🙏🏾 Located in the leafy suburb of Belgravia in Harare City, a few kilometres out of the CBD, this restaurant, Chinese run, is beautifully perched as a moonlight of the neighbourhood. On entrance, it has a majestic walkway into the garden under moon arches and flanked on the right by the restaurant itself. The glass walls of the restaurant also reveal the meticulous planning that went into beautifying the place. The interior is also well designed with artistic touch using inexpensive tables and seats. The service was curt and polite, and the assistance navigating through the menu was also a diligent feat for the patient waiter🙏🏾. I had Braised Chicken with steamed basmati rice as accompaniment.... it was sooooooo delicious❤️ I went to visit at the least busy time of the day so that I could also have a conversation with the staff and management. It was interesting listening to the story of how and when this journey began about a year ago. They said they're not yet fully finished with the beautification of the entire place, but business has already picked up well. I sure will come back with friends and family to this place as I know it will soon be one of the top picks in Harare💯

Where do I even start? … Ok, Moongate does live up to the hype, the design aesthetic, environment and vibe, is just spot on. At night, the place turns into an Instagram/Pinterest photoshoot. If you’re the type who can’t eat without snapping a pic first, this spot was basically built for you 😏 The ambience? Gorgeous. Whether you’re indoors or out, it just screams 'perfect date night'. Honestly, it’s the kind of place that makes you look more romantic than you actually are. Now, the food. It’s… alright. it’s Okay. Where they really shine is service. Big shout-out to my waiter Howard 👏 who made sure we were taken care of. Seems the owner clearly went all out to make the place feel special. I mean, there were two proposals while I was dining. TWO. Like, am I in a rom-com or what? 😂 So yeah, if you’re looking for a solid spot for date night, Moongate’s a good bet. And pro tip: get the dumplings and ribs as a starter and main. You’ll thank me later.

Disappointed Despite the restaurant not being full. The standards have dropped. There was clear discrimination from the avoidant style of waitressing which delayed the service. Our table was not reserved, and we were served a dirty glass along with a cracked teapot. However, truly appreciate the birthday song. Please note use of Apple Pay, Revolut and international cards will probably not work. Bring cash instead. Kudos to the architects and landscapers for the stunning designs. S/O to the chefs. The dumplings, green tea prawns, and chocolate wantons were finger licking good.
