Disappointing experience from the zoo in the centre of the city.
The zoo is small, but not that small to make better and bigger enclosures for animals! They barely have place to hide and almost nothing to play with. No enrichment at all. Bunnies are digging holes under the cage and It's clearly visible that the animals are bored and nervous. Some of them didn't look really healthy. They SHOULD have more signs with clear informations, how to behave around animals. They have really old wolves (15 years old) and it's visible that they need calm place where they can hide and sleep. There was a man who SPILLED A WATTER on this poor old wolf sleeping because he could easily reach him. There were also people who was clapping and stomping near a very nervous and angry lion and I'm not talking about staff who was sitting really close but didn't even do anything. There are also two small buildings which says it's aquarium and reprilarium but you'll see only fish in old containers with alcohol a 3 smalk really ugly aquariums with fish in BAD conditions. For example pond fish in a small and terrible tank with some plastic trash without any plants and hideouts. In small terrariums are snakes in wooden sawdust!
Overall the zoo is messy, unorganized and zookeepers should take more care about animals! And they definitely didn't hear about imitation of the natural environment of the animals! Hope someone from the zoo staff...
Read moreThe zoo park is reconstructed and the results of this is good looking infrastructure from the outside, but the context of a zoo park is not the outside infrastructure but the animals in there. Talking about the animals the result is some poor animals that are ill. The fox has the leg broken and the parrot cage is in the middle of the fox and falcon. And what i see there is a parrot that finds a hole and is scary in the cage of falcons. You can say that accidents happen. That's true. But I go inform the zoo keeper, probably no one noticed. And the zookeeper says to me it's not my job. 😒. He goes to help the parrot. After i finish my visit to the zoo i return to the cage of the parrot to see if the zookeeper does his job. And the result is not that the zookeeper didn't do his job but i found another parrot in the cage of the fox🤬🤯. Is this normal? Why create a zoo park if you aren't responsible for taking care of the animals. In another cage were a pair of roe. They are kept in bad condition. They have one part of their faces swollen and a scarf...
Read moreThe zoo is painfully small, and its inhabitants, particularly the lions and tigers, seem caught in the grip of exhaustion. Under the relentless summer sun, not a single pool or shaded sanctuary was provided. They pace restlessly, eyes dull, spirits seemingly broken. It’s not just neglect—it feels like apathy.
The reptile section is almost non-existent. Two makeshift tanks, more reminiscent of DIY fishbowls than proper habitats, sit awkwardly on display, offering little care, let alone dignity, to the creatures within.
Dirt clings to every path. The enclosures feel forgotten. Even the ponds where ducks float are murky and unkempt, as if time—and responsibility—have both slipped away unnoticed.
There is a difference between a modest zoo and a careless one. This, sadly, is the latter.
A disappointing, disheartening visit I wouldn’t wish on any animal...
