This building was a wedding present given to Josefina Anchorena on her marriage to Enrique Larreta
In the early 1900s he work as a,diplomatic in France and Spain, he became fascinated by the Hispanic-Islamic gardens of places such as the Alhambra in Granada and decided he wanted to built something similar in their summer residence in Buenos Aires
Enrique Larreta was a writer and painter. He was a fan of Spanish art and literature. He contributed a large collection of works produced from Medieval times on These small museum is full of extraordinary pieces of wood, from desks and sculptures. There are small interesting details to be seen everywhere Among them important wood carvings, furniture, paintings, ceramics, weapons, and other types of objects of value for Spanish art.
The garden is good place to meditate, you can sit on the bench or walk around
The City authorities acquired it in 1961. The museum can be visited Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 3pm to 7pm, and on weekends and holidays from 3pm to 7:45pm
The washrooms are well lit and clean The people are very nice and helpful.

The signs are in Spanish, though titles of art pieces have been translated to English. I'd recommend coming even if you can only read some Spanish, though- the museum wasn't crowded, so I was able to take my time reading and translating words I didn't know. There was also an interesting temporary exhibit. There's a lovely garden, though if you're looking for an especially quiet garden you'll still be able to hear the street. Read moreThey don't care about people with disabilities. They refused to let me in with my bad full of medicine for type 1 diabetes. Visted about 12 museums so far and this is the only I had issues.
I kept telling them I'm type 1 and I can't go without having my supplies with me at all times. I've already come close to death many times because I didn't have all my supplies with me but they didn't care at all.
I've never been so disrespected before visting another country. I'm not taking a chance of passing out and going into a coma.... sorry my body doesn't work correctly anymore.
I wish I didn't have to carry this stuff with me at all times but unfortunately I do.
