MAGILL Penfolds Restaurant - 2024 Penfolds Collection THURSDAY 1st August 2024

SNACKS Crispy lamb & Japanese mustard Wagyu tartare cracker Stuffed chicken wing, scallop, lobster Magill Estate crumpet, roe, smoked trout 4 delicious morsels to start the night along with sensational Champagne. Crumbed tiny bababababa was cooked to perfection married with tangy mustard You had me at crack Wagyu hmmmm I just love great tartar and this certainly is. A crunchy dark cracker tartar with tiny bits pickles. Lip smacking one bit deliciousness The amazing chicken wing Stuffed; who thinks to stuff a chicken wing. Then how many apprentice does it take to stuff a chicken wing I have no idea but this is an amazing thoughtful imaginative impressive delightful yummy wonderful (okay that’s enough) you get the idea. This is a special delicate dish. I tips my lid to: the master chef who thought of it, the skilful chef who created it and the wonderful chefs who did the stuffing. Soft delicious crumpet with roe hello get down into my belly with you Smokey friend. Delicious. Champagne Thiénot x Penfolds Rosé Champagne NV

FIRST COURSE Tuna, finger lime, mustard Delicious tuna, opps no photo, with one of my favourites Finger Lime glistening gems. Penfolds Bin 51 Riesling 2024 sepfolds Bin 311 Chardonnay 2023

SECOND COURSE Alasonian toothfish, brown rice miso, pickled cucumber Just look at that shiny delicious looking lump of seafood. Glowing of miso with thin pickled cucumber slices. You rest the nice against it and the weight of the knife falls through to reveal the perfection. Absolutely perfectly cooked fish. Then you get to taste it. Oh my goodness gosh hello taste buds get a load of this. It’s delicate it has been handled with pride and professionalism. A dish I will remember for years. Every time I see a tooth fish this delicacy with salivate my taste buds. A huge thanks to Scott & Rod. I just love this. Benfolds Bin 28 Shiraz 2022 Penfolds Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz 2022 Penfolds Bin 407 Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

THIRD COURSE Risoni, truffle, honey Risoni - I love Risoni cooked in wonderful stock. I love truffles I love honey. Are you getting the point. As the plate is lowered to the table the waft of the dish hits you before you even see it. The poor wine maker explaining the wines as most, ignore him, with head turning to the dish with smiles. Then you get to eat it. Heaven I’m in Heaven. Just yum I’ll fly back from Melbourne just for this dish. Penfolds Magill Estate Shiraz 2022 Penfolds Il Dourthe Cabernet Sauvignon 2022 Penfolds Bin 704 Cabernet Sauvignon 2021

FOURTH COURSE Wagyu, rosemary, X.O Sauce Have a look at the shine on the X O Sauce it is so inviting. Then you look at the Wagyu THATS HOW YOU COOK A STEAK. A perfect size perfectly cooked to perfection (Yeah I know I’ve repeated perfect a few times but there is a reason) It’s the perfect finale to an amazing night and it tastes perfect. But that XO: I later told the chefs if you bottle it I will buy the lot. Just Wonderful. Penfolds Grange Shiraz 2020

FINAL COURSE Selection of cheese Penfolds Grandfather Port We chat we eat a bit we chat we drink. We are indeed having a night to remember. I should rave about the stunning wine presented by the skilful Wine Maker Henry Slattery. But that is for me and my memories. Henry was amazing to listen to, he is passionate about his job. I was lucky enough to have him opposite me. We talked a lot about wine. I thank him so much for his valuable insight and discussion.

To the entire crew at Magill a huge congratulations and thank you it was a great night. Hannah thank you for all your help, nice to finally meet. To my friends Scott & Rodriguez congratulations is not sufficient enough. Your skills in designing our dinner shined through on my taste buds I loved it. I will see you again soon. Cheers Rob...

Penfolds is a renowned Australian winery with a rich history and a reputation for producing high-quality wines. Founded in 1844 by Dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold and his wife Mary Penfold, it has since become one of the most iconic and influential wine producers in Australia.

One of Penfolds' most celebrated wines is the Penfolds Grange, often referred to as "Grange Hermitage." This Shiraz wine is known for its exceptional quality and aging potential, and it has consistently received high praise from wine critics and enthusiasts around the world. Grange is typically made from grapes sourced from various vineyards across South Australia and aged in new American oak barrels.

Penfolds also produces a range of other notable wines, such as the Bin Series, which includes wines like Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz and Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon, all known for their distinct character and aging potential. The winery uses a combination of traditional winemaking techniques and innovative practices to craft its wines.

Penfolds has played a significant role in elevating the status of Australian wines on the global stage. Its commitment to quality, consistency, and a diverse range of wine styles has garnered a loyal following. The winery's iconic logo, featuring a Penfolds Magill Estate, is recognized by wine enthusiasts worldwide.

Over the years, Penfolds has expanded its vineyard holdings and winemaking operations, maintaining its dedication to producing world-class wines that reflect the unique terroir of South Australia. While the brand has evolved and adapted to changing wine trends, its commitment to quality remains unwavering, making Penfolds a symbol of Australian...

Tasting Australia-Around the world with Penfolds -a lovely ambiance, great DJ, some quality wine as expected for $190 a ticket, but this event was advertised with “substantial” canapé. Unfortunately, the availability of food was notably limited, which left many attendees dissatisfied. Staff circulated with hidden trays of canapés, trying to reserve bites for those at the tunnel ends, often excluding everyone in between. A single bao bun appeared later as a larger option but fell flat—served cold, dry, and overloaded with raw chili, which overwhelmed any subtlety the dish might have had. A scattering of quality charcuterie boards throughout the venue could have offered much needed sustenance, particularly for Friday evening attendees arriving straight from demanding workdays. The DJ delivered an outstanding set worthy of five stars, setting a lively tone for the evening. Hospitality staff were courteous, though frequently unable to ensure all guests received even a single bite of food. More concerning, many wine servers knew little about the wine they were pouring other than its name and the country that it was from-notably many relied heavily on “cheat sheets” for information about the sole wine they were pouring —this was a very disappointing lapse in expertise for an event positioned and priced as a high-end wine experience. Come on, Penfolds—Quantum and Grange deserve more. Wines of this calibre demand informed presentation and service that matches their reputation...

Today we enjoyed a great day tour of the Penfolds McGill Estate Cellar Door. We were certainly spoilt. On arrival all the staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We arrived early so we had coffee and cake whilst we waited for tour and tasting. Our tour guide finally arrived and I must say it was the best that I have ever experienced.we arrived back to start our wine 🍷 tasting and the experience was sensational. The choice of wine was excellent and my wife and I had pre booked a loverly lunch at Penfolds. We had a very nice first class luncheon with some beautiful selections of food with some very nice wine to go with each dish. We were certainly looked after as it was our 35 wedding anniversary and we cannot speak highly enough of the staff all the way from our arrival to our code and cake then our tour and then lunch. To all the staff including our tour guide and restaurant staff and tasting staff a very big thank you. My wife and I would definitely recommend this venue for a visit and we are sure you will not be disappointed. My wife and I would love to sat thank for your hospitality and keep up the good work to all the team at Penfolds Magill Estate Cellar Door.

What an outstanding experience. We booked the Penfolds Iconic Tour, which included a guided winery tour, private tastings, and a wine-paired lunch. Our tour leader, Gigi, was exceptional—warm, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. The stories she shared about the winery’s history were fascinating and really brought the place to life. The tasting itself was a highlight, with the chance to sample Penfolds’ finest wines, including the legendary Grange and my personal favourite, Bin 707. Gigi’s guidance made the experience even more special. And then came the lunch—the perfect finale. Delicious dishes matched beautifully with generous pours of outstanding wines. I can’t recommend the Iconic Tour highly enough—it’s well worth every dollar. Just one word of advice: don’t plan on driving afterwards!

Visited the winery in SA and have loved Penfolds as has the family for 50+ years but when at the winery, thought easier to purchase online as opposed to trying to transport home to QLD. However, very disappointed to then follow a promo link to the limited edition Penfolds bin 389 Cab Shiraz for $100 plus $10 shipping, to then find this identical limited edition wine for $10 cheaper at the Dan Murphy’s 2 mins around the corner. Feel stitched up and screwed out of $20 thinking I was buying something special at a good price direct from the winery. Still waiting on the wine to arrive from Penfolds but already this wine will taste somewhat sour not because of the quality of wine but because of the marketing and pricing of the product.
