Generally, you can commute faster by road, as this trail follows the twists and turns of the river. West of the CBD, the north side is continuous to the coast, while the south side has a few diversions into streets. Various singletrack trails run parallel to the sealed path for those seeking some adventure. Beware/ enjoy jump features built up by local kids in places. East of the CBD, pay attention to signage, as branching paths may take you away from the Torrens. There's almost no singletrack in the East, but the undulating elevation of the path becomes its own challenge. For an epic ride, go on a rainy morning, when there's hardly anyone out, and do the whole thing, both sides, as much as you can. Take food and electrolytes, so you're not tempted to eat someone's spoodle by the time you're done.

I just love all the parks, rivers and wetlands throughout Adelaide and surrounding areas. This was my first visit the Henley Beach section of the River Torrens Linear Park Trail. As it was late afternoon in the winter I only walked to the first river crossing but utterly enjoyed the experience. On this side (north side) there is for the most part two tracks near each other - one is bitumen and the other gravel. The runners and cyclists used the first and some of the walkers used the latter. Dogs on lead allowed and I was pleased to see that the owners of dogs adhered to this policy. Lots of frogs and water birds around. There is also some undercover seating, though not sure I saw any bins around so it's a matter of taking all rubbish home with you.

Can't beat a beautiful ride along the linear trail! When the water is flowing, it's so pretty and refreshing. The only point of criticism I would note is that dogs are often loose and have come off my bike due to a dog running out in front of me. The trail itself is very peaceful and picturesque. Love the sounds of all the different birds whilst walking or riding this trail. I often ride along this path all the way from Henley Beach to the start of the hills near Gorge Rd. Sometimes the path can be extremely busy with pedestrians, dogs, families and cyclists which is great to see. There are multiple spots for BBQ options & few water stations along the path. There are playgrounds and fitness parks along the way too.

ive been living by the river in Athelstone for nearly 13 years . I have seen a slow decline in the care of the grounds and now for the past week ive been gutted to see the river completely dry . The birds and animals have nothing to drink and the ground and trees with their browning leaves is a disgrace ..The woodchips delivered months ago still sit in huge mounds .....The councils responsible for this mess need to get their act together ...touting about the "new look " (funnily enough all the signs showing the proposed plans have dissapeared .too )was just all talk .. theres no excuse .....its all about filthy money ....selling off our water is a joke and im ashamed to call myself a human being when i see its at the expense of nature .....should be ashamed...
