There is a great cafe there, called Plantation Park Cafe which is a little oasis. The food was delicious - I had a quiche (thin crispy pasty) with salad and friends had steak sandwiches and they were really tasty. I think they also do the best coffees in Ayr - as far as I could find. And you sit out on the wooden deck - which has a lovely leafy view.
Owned by Traditional Owners, the Gudjuda people, it's located just behind the big snake which is their totem. The kids are allowed to clamber onto the snake and there is enough room for them to play on the deck as well. There is also a small museum/ cultural centre of Aboriginal artifacts, paintings - where you can learn about the culture.

Only reason I give it four stars is the grass was long, midges & mozzies were bad (don't know if it was just around the time of year we went though) & the hammock they have there is terribly uncomfortable to sit or lay on. The park does have a wonderful water system the little one had heaps of fun playing with & trying out. The playground is pretty good too, plenty of shade and places to sit & things for the kids to do. All in all, would definitely return to this park again & wish I had got to visit when...
