Brendan and I began the hunt for our perfect wedding venue in January 2018 after our engagement a month earlier in December 2017. We wanted a venue that would foster the relaxed, fun, happy vibe we had envisioned for our celebration. Somewhere beautiful that we could have our wedding and reception without that awkward 2 or 3 hour gap and change of location. We wanted a venue ideally close to home in North Canberra that was affordable, effortless, and beautiful. Where the emotional and happy atmosphere from our ceremony could flow straight into drinks and canapes and our wedding reception. We didn’t want the chair covers, and white table cloths. We didn’t want somewhere that needed to be dressed up to look incredible. We wanted autonomy in the planning and execution of our wedding day, some control over what happened, when and where. We looked in all the places an engaged couple in Canberra might look in and around the area, but nothing gave us the autonomy, affordability, location and beauty we wanted. My mum remembered seeing some photos of a friend of a friends wedding at a beautiful location a few years ago and after some facebook stalking found Gold Creek Station. We contacted Craig and organised a time to meet one Saturday afternoon. Before Brendan and I had even seen the inside of the venue for ourselves, we both turned to one another as we were driving down the drive way and declared “I think this is the one”. We met with Craig who gave us a tour of Gold Creek Station, some history of the area and his family farm, and discussed options for our wedding day. Before we left that day we had already locked in our wedding date. We had found the perfect venue! Gold Creek Station boasts the natural beauty, chilled atmosphere, affordability and incredible location we were after. Being located on Victoria St in Hall, Gold Creek Station was less than 10 minutes from home and a quick and easy Uber or taxi ride for our guests. Even more exciting.. no one we knew had ever been married here! The process from here was a breeze. We had so much autonomy over what we wanted for our day. Craig was available to message, email or meet with as needed. We met twice in the lead up to our day to confirm our menu, run sheet, meet with his chef and finalise details. Craig was the perfect go to person. He has a super relaxed approach and is very experienced in hosting weddings at Gold Creek Station. Craig gave us a heap of useful tips, tricks and information which was very helpful as we didn’t have a clue how to plan a wedding! As Craig had no bookings on the Friday before our Saturday wedding we were able to spend the day with our bridal party decorating Gold Creek Station the exact way we wanted it, music playing, excitement brewing. Our wedding day arrived. The weather, location, venue, food and vibe were all perfect, in fact it was even better than we could have hoped for. I may be a little biased, but it was definitely the best wedding I’ve ever been to. We actually had several guests tell us the same thing! Our favourite part was having our ceremony so seamlessly flow into our reception with drinks and canapes served immediately following our ceremony. We had heaps of positive feedback from our guests about this. It was also a quick 10-15 minute drive home for most of our guests who had no issues ordering a taxi or Uber. The food was also beyond anything we could have hoped for. When discussing our menu with the chef we expressed our desire for serving sizes to be adequate enough to fill our hungry guests belly’s and fuel their legs for a long night on the dance floor, and boy did they deliver. I don’t think a single guest went through maccas drive through on the way home, which is a common theme at other weddings we have attended! Gold Creek Station was the perfect venue for us. It hosts the location, affordability, beauty and atmosphere ideal for any celebration. We are absolutely stoked we were able to celebrate our wedding day at Gold Creek Station, our experience couldn’t have been...
Read moreWe had our wedding at Gold Creek Station in April 2021 and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wedding or party venue.
The venue is gorgeous, located only about 20 minutes from the Canberra CBD but feeling authentically rural and rustic. We had our ceremony outside at the venue and our reception in the manor house, so our guests could just wander straight over to the house for drinks and canapes while we had photos on the grounds with our bridal party. It was great to be able to host our entire wedding at one great venue, without needing to travel away to take photos elsewhere.
Craig was excellent and a pleasure to work with throughout the almost three years we spent planning our wedding. His priority was clearly making sure that we had the best possible wedding day, and not just making money from our booking – his prices were very reasonable and he provided a lot of help in planning our big day, attending meetings with us and our other suppliers after hours, reviewing our run sheets and offering advice on timings and entertainments, and even providing custom cocktails for our guests!
Craig provided a comprehensive package including food and drinks, which provided great value compared to other venues. Ralph, the head chef, prepared delicious food based on our menu selections, and Craig worked with us to accommodate our preferences on beer, wine and spirits. He also had a network of contacts in the wedding industry which we took full advantage of – we met the vast majority of our wedding suppliers through Craig, who all provided an excellent standard of service.
We had originally planned to have our wedding in April 2020, but the pandemic forced us to delay – Craig was extremely kind to us, allowing us to postpone for a year at no additional cost, and we’re extremely grateful to him for this.
We couldn’t have been happier with our wedding at Gold Creek Station, and hope that many other couples get to experience this...
Read moreWhat an amazing venue for a wedding ceremony and reception. I got married here on 26/10/19. The ceremony is positioned amongst the gumtrees with plenty of shade for the guests with the alter built by the owners which creates a great place to get married. After the ceremony we walked up towards the reception venue where we had canapés and drinks to congratulate. The canapés where in an undercover outdoor area with a bar and toilets. This area was a great place sheltered from the wind (if it is blowing a gale like on my wedding day). While our guests ate and drunk during the canapés the bridal party went off to take photos in locations across the property. The staff at Gold Creek Station make the effort to bring food and drink out to the bridal party so they can enjoy the day too. There is an upstairs area where we (the bridal party) went just before the guests move into the venue to take their seats. It is a great location to allow the bride and groom to breath for a few minutes before they get introduced to the guests. We walked down stairs and where introduced. Great way to enter the reception. The reception venue is a beautiful timber structure with rustic finishes. Food was so tasty and servings were nice and large. Our guests definitely didnt go hungry. We had alternate serve entree and alternate serve mains. The entree is almost big enough by itself. Food was so tasty. We had 96 guests at the reception and only took up half the venue with tables. Could easily fit 150 seated guests in the room with plenty of room for a dance floor. There was a good variety of drinks both beer and wine. I would highly recommend this venue to everyone for a wedding and reception. Such a beautiful...
