Deeply Disappointed and Disrespected – A Heartbreaking Experience with Allambe Memorial Park
I am writing this with a heavy heart and deep disappointment following the way my late father’s cremation was handled by Allambe Memorial Park. ( However, the venue is beautiful.)
My father’s funeral took place on 13/05/2025, and in accordance with his cultural and Buddhist beliefs, it was his clear and expressed wish to be cremated on the same day, in the afternoon. This was confirmed multiple times by both our family and our end-of-life care team, BARE - which has tried their best to honour my father’s wishes. Allambe assured then us—both before and on the day of the funeral—that the cremation would take place immediately after the service.
Despite this, Allambe went ahead and carried out the cremation at 5:00 AM on 14/05/2025, without notifying us as the family or BARE. No call, no email, no warning. When we followed up, we were told that according to their Terms & Conditions, they reserve the right to perform cremations within 24–48 hours of a funeral. This clause was never disclosed to us when we made the arrangements. More importantly, it goes against what was clearly promised to us.
What’s even more distressing is their response: we were told that no action would be taken, but they will “make sure it doesn’t happen again.” How is this meant to help us now? How is this acceptable??? This wasn’t a minor error. This was my father’s final wish, and it was completely disregarded. Saying it won’t happen again is meaningless—my father has already passed. The damage is done, and it is irreversible.
This is more than just a scheduling issue. It was a complete failure to respect cultural and spiritual beliefs during one of the most vulnerable times in a family’s life. If Allambe cannot honour such requests, they should not allow them to be made, or at the very least, they should communicate openly and honestly when issues arise.
Our family feels disrespected, unheard, and deeply hurt. A simple phone call could have led to an alternative plan. Instead, we were left with a decision that stripped away our ability to honour our father the way he deserved.
I will be taking this further. No family should have to experience the pain we went through. This kind of treatment is unacceptable—and I will ensure it is...

UPDATE 29 Jan 2020: I've added a star, as the plot now has some turf laid on it. Hopefully things will continue to improve and I'll re-visit this review.
UPDATE 2 Apr 2020: The plot looks much better now, with the new turf having taken hold. I'd added an updated picture.
UPDATE 20 Oct 2020: Big improvement. Another star.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I suggest to anyone considering using this cemetery - owned by InvoCare Australia - that they walk through the Garden of Memories (a nice position but well out of site at the southern perimeter) to get an idea of what a grave will probably look like once the area is full - and consequently of no further financial benefit to the business.
A grave from early October 2019 should have grass on it instead of loosely dumped sand, and should not have holes in it and be surrounded by weeds. After two recent visits I’ve made two complaints, one by phone and one via their web complaints form, which have not resulted in any response or action.
For those who wish to visit the grave of a loved one, there’s an expectation that it will be respectfully maintained. Very...
Read moreMy wife and I were disappointed with the alleged arbitrary and unyielding attitude, of one of the senior advisors at Allambe Memorial Park, Nerang, when we raised the issue about our unsatisfactory small and unsightly headstone memorial being jammed between two larger headstones, with that senior team advisor.
We were quoted charges for them to remedy the issue , but Allambe's charges for work to be carried out are, in our view, astronomical, with little semblance to actual remedial stone work costs in the community. Money gouging appears obvious.
In the end, the team advisor did not even return our written communications with Allambe. We also stated that we wanted to purchase a new memorial plot, but the senior team member did not even accommodate our offer of inquiry to purchase another memorial site inquiry either.
Would you conduct a business like Allambe...
