Baarmutha Park — Attraction in Hume

I walk my three dogs here, probably every second day. It's a multi use park, so it's important to respect other users. The Beechworth Golf Club takes up much of the area of the park, surrounding at the north eastern end the Beechworth Football & Netball Club (Beechworth Bushrangers in the Tallangatta League, formerly Beechworth Bombers in the Ovens & King League) and the Beechworth Wanderers Cricket Club. The sports oval has been substantially upgraded in recent decades, and boasts well designed sports facilities and a function centre, state of the art lighting for sports events, all overlooked by the 100+ year old grandstand, built to view the 2 mile horse racing track that is now part of the golf course, and easily detectable if you are partaking in a round. The old grandstand was saved from demolition some decades ago by local protest, and has been carefully restored. The curved roof of the old grandstand has also inspired same in the architecture of the new buildings with their curved rooves.
