don’t make a habit on writing reviews but we had such a terrible stay, I feel it is warranted. Firstly, they have a dog that sits in their gated garden situated poolside. This dog whines and barks at your when you are in the pool.
The bath in our cottage looks as though it has black mould growing under the silicon. This needs to be looked into as if it is black mould, it is a health and safety concern. I had forgotten to mention this on check out so hopefully the owners read this.
Their behaviour and customer service is terrible. On the last night we had 2 of our booked cottages come together for a BBQ, BBQ is supplied. At one point around 8pm one of the guests were loud and swearing. The owner came over quite abruptly and told us to stop. We apologised straight away and the one person making the noise stopped immediately. Next thing you know, the sprinklers positioned directly where the rest of us were sitting, no where near the loud guest, had been turned on. All of our phones and food were soaked through. I didn’t see this myself but my step daughter recalled seeing the owners walking past their door and laughing. The sprinklers turned off minutes after they were on. We stayed 3 nights here and not once were the sprinklers turned on at this time and this happened to be a Saturday night. I brought this up on checkout and the women on the desk offered what I felt to be a disingenuous apology as she kept a smile on her face. Her husband apparently turned them off the minute they witnessed it happening, but they certainly did not come over to apologies for this and to check everything was ok.
The next thing to happen was the lights outside being turned off completely. We had been out there every night and at 10pm the lights dim. This time, Saturday night, it was completely off and pitch black. We tried turning the light off at the switch to reset and have some light. They would turn straight back off minutes later. This is very hazardous as you can’t see anything and there are steps leading to the porch. Again this was brought up with the reception at check out and it was passed of a unusual and they had no idea.
We have stayed here previously and the last owners were a lovely, welcoming older couple. They are the reason we chose here to stay. We will not...
Read moreWhat a wonderful week we had staying in the two bedroom 'apartment' (more like a duplex) at Golden Heritage. The apartment is set at one end of the large motel property, on the other side of the duck pond, away from the standard motel rooms and accessed by an adjoining road (and much cheaper than an airB&B!). We woke to the sound of birdsong and breakfasted on the deck/BBQ area overlooking the pond. Beechworth is a two minute drive from the motel so easy to access for meals when we didn't want to cook for ourselves in the fully kitted-out kitchen (and there's also a laundry and clothesline). Beechworth is a very good central base to explore as far afield as Bright to the southeast or north to Rutherglen and handy to the King Valley (Chrismont has a restaurant as well as cellar door; Politini also worth a visit) in the south. In the past we've stayed in the standard motel rooms and enjoyed the deck with views over the gorge but decided to try the apartment for our longer stay. The motel also has stand-alone cottages with kitchens and spa baths as other accommodation choices. Jo is helpful with suggestions as to wineries or restarants/cafes to visit and even with last-minute accommodation changes! Very highly...
