I had a wonderful time at the Junee Licorice & Chocolate factory. Arriving only 15mins before closing on a Saturday, Coral (the owner) gave me the run down of the whole history and operation plus the important stuff; the yummy goods, all with exuberance and pride. She steered me towards the organic 58% dark chocolate coated licorice and almonds. I also bought their Sundae Sipper Chocolate beer; a larger, which went down very well with some Irish Cream Baileys chocolate I had in my bag as well as the factory’s chocolate.
The cafe looks great too but it was also closing.
I was invited to wander around the factory and also check out the upstairs function room and shop. The use of old items like copper drums converted into lamp shades and planter pots is a wonderful example of creative up-cycling. The space utilises the high ceilings, and the large windows illuminate the space with natural light.
The old Fantale, Freddo amd Allen’s lollies signs in the downstairs outside dining area are a blast from the past and the old lorry out the front paints a picture perfect entrance to the whole establishment. It’s a stunning renovation of an old wheat mil!
The licorice is divine (not too hard or soft) but would be even better with 70% dark chocolate according to my now slightly European taste buds but the 58% cacao was still delicious.
All and all, one of the best foodie experiences I’ve had in Australia and overseas thanks to Coral’s hospitality and her generosity, taking considerable time to explain everything in detail and answering my many questions.
Don’t hesitate to visit if you’re anywhere near Wagga Wagga. It’s a short drive to Junee. But leave more time to explore the whole factory, it’s definitely worth it!🥇 🏆 Thanks so much💜🧡 from...

Read moreThis place is worth the stop or even detour if you are near the area. The cafe are spacious with a ton of seating inside and outside under the shade. The outdoor seating especially are in beautiful landscaped garden, very picturesque. The factory itself is an interesting heritage building with two levels that you can walk about. You can see the choc production from glass windows across the factory. There is a gift shop upstairs and dedicated area to shop for chocolates downstairs. Special shout out to the girl who attended the choc shop on Sunday 28 Dec around 2:30pm. She is such a delight! Very helpful and enthusiastic. It was very busy yet she she still take the time to let us have various tasters and explain the different kinds of products on offer. Overall an excellent destination for all ages. I recommend spending between...
