Date of incident - 19 October 2023: I have been going to playdates kids cafe with my son (18 months) for a bit, and had even started referring other mums there for playdates and would prefer to do meet ups there but after todayās deplorable customer service, Iām not sure Iāll vouch for this place!
I arrived at 430pm, they close at 5pm, to have a half hour play with my son. Due to health issues, late nights and honestly just trying to survive the past few days, his sleep is all over the place. So he was asleep till 330pm, and after a contractor left our house at 4pm, i made the near half hour trip to at least put a smile on my sonās face at his current fav cafe.
On getting there, at 431pm, there was a mum and daughter inside, and i was going ready to pay but the lady at the front reception told me that my son and i couldnāt come in at all. She said that they (the mum and daughter inside) were the only ones who could play in there till 5pm and even though i retorted that Iām also a paying customer who is already presenting well before closing time, and i am happy to pay a full hourās price for my son to play for the half hour that was left before their actual closing time, she said no!
The website says they close at 5pm, and i asked her what her exact reasoning was! Turns out there was none! There was not much clean up to be done, as most of everything was in its place. And there was no mention of a party afterwards, either! Perhaps they just didnāt want to go around to put things away after both me and my 18 month old son, even though the mum and daughter who were in there playing were doing just that! Just to point out, when we left, i put whatever my son touched and used, back in its place!
It took me demanding an explanation as to why sheās making a decision to close shop to someone whilst another patron was clearly in there with their daughter playing, and Iām more than willing to pay the overpriced fee to get in, for her to āget on the phoneā (Iām pretty sure she was pretending to be on the phone) with someone, before she charges the till and motions me to pay to get in! No explanation or apology! Nothing! Iām not stupid you know?
And suffice this to say- Iām a person of colour! Iām human, and so is my son! And somehow, they canāt accommodate me getting into the play cafe to play with him well before their stipulated closing time?! Heās only 18 months for Christās sake! We are quiet, regular and well meaning customers just like other red, yellow, blue and green customers! This isnāt just about race, itās just about some employee deciding to discriminate and not give access to select people against the placeās stipulated closing time with no party or clean up being mentioned as needing to be done. One of the staff members was doing so on the go as well. Either way, i put things back as we went along with my son.
We were planning on having his birthday party there and had even enquired on the prices and processes involved but with such distasteful customer service like this, Iād rather give my business to someone else!
Iām still so shaken and so upset, and shocked at the treatment today. What a way to make people feel unwelcome in a place that should be welcoming! Itās not surprising that the Google reviews of this cafe are the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had our daughterās birthday celebration in Playdates kids cafe this winter and it was amazingly smooth sailing experience! Rachel has been very easy to communicate with through email from the beginning till the end. So far the cleanest indoor playground we have been to. The whole building is spacious and the arrangement of every rooms are just perfect! The interior design looks super cosy & luxurious. I love the birthday room so much it was gorgeous & totally perfect for my girl. The toilet is just next to the birthday room which is very convenient and the cleanliness is tiptop! toilet sleepers are provided. Kitchen & lounge area also just next to the birthday room and they served a variety option of healthy foods as well unlike most of indoor playgrounds we had been to. Thereās a staircase access to the huge play area with slides & stuff, pretend play sections etc which everyone must wear socks to enter. They also have merry go round & train ride sections which the kids love so much. Staffs are very professional, friendly & helpful. Overall the staffsās hospitalities were excellent! I hired their photographer and he is amazing! I highly recommend to use their own professional photographer as he understands the place & party flow really2 well, friendly, & very easy to work with. Their balloon decorations team are fantastic! They have many quoted theme designs to choose from and i literally saved so much time in choosing the theme because of this. Just 1 thing to keep in mind, š finding a parking lot at Karrinyup SM can be very2 tricky. Peak time is around 12noon on Saturday so those with 1pm party on weekend should come at least 30mins early to get a parking. Some of my guests arrived 1 hour late due to parking issues and they ended up parking outside near Hungry Jacks just a few meters walk to Playdates cafe. It was such a wonderful & memorable experience celebrating my little girl birthday in Playdates kids cafe. Thank you so much for the great hospitalities. Will be back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy recent visit to Playdates Kids Cafe left me utterly disappointed and disheartened. What was supposed to be a fun-filled day for the kids turned into a nightmare due to the extremely rude behavior of the staff.
From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt tense, and it didn't take long to realize that the staff at Playdates Kids Cafe lacked basic courtesy and professionalism. The unfriendly demeanor of the team members was palpable, and it was evident that they had little regard for the enjoyment and well-being of the children.
One of the most distressing aspects of our visit was the way the staff shouted at the kids. It was not only inappropriate but also completely unacceptable. Instead of fostering a safe and enjoyable environment for the children, the staff's behavior created an atmosphere of fear and discomfort.
The lack of empathy and understanding displayed by the team members was truly disconcerting. Instead of addressing concerns or issues with a calm and respectful approach, they chose to resort to shouting, creating an unpleasant experience for both children and parents alike.
Moreover, the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the play area left much to be desired. It was evident that the management was not prioritizing the upkeep of the facilities, further diminishing the appeal of Playdates Kids Cafe.
In conclusion, my experience at Playdates Kids Cafe was far from enjoyable, primarily due to the rude and unprofessional behavior of the staff. For a business that caters to families and children, it is essential to prioritize customer service, respect, and a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, Playdates Kids Cafe fell short on all these fronts, leaving a lasting negative impression. I would strongly advise prospective visitors to consider alternative options for their children's entertainment, where their experience can be both enjoyable...
