Visited here whilst looking around Kurri Kurri's murals it was a bleak day, but I still enjoyed looking at the Kookaburra and the coal mine sculptures in the park area a tribute to the industry.

HISTORY Kurri Kurri in aboriginal means the very first or in the beginning. This town was established as a direct result of the discovery of the Greta coal stream. Kurri Kurri was the first town in NSW to be planned, and the first lot of blocks were sold on January 10 1903 the town grew rapidly by the growing coal mining industry until its last major coal mine closed in 1967. Kurri Kurri is now known as the mural town with over 60 murals throughout the...

A great little town to visit if in the Hunter Valley NSW Kurri Kurri that good they named it twice. Not only the Big Kooka but they have the mural walk around as well, painted on shop walls all over town and with a you guessed it a little kooka in each one to find. A great thing to do with the kids. They actually tell a story of the people and places and history of Kurri. A recommended stop if...

Just located at the center of the town. There is one big(actually not really big) statue of a bird.

There are a lot of murals nearby. It's a very quiet town to walk around. If you like to wander around and look at the murals and just chill. This is actually a good place.

But kids will find it boring tho. Brought them here and they don't like it.

Overall I feel this is a good place to...

My life seriously changed as soon as I laid eyes on this piece of art. Beautifully designed, beautifully placed in the centre of town, just beautiful. I recommend coming here and bringing your mates, family, and even pet kookaburras - your eyes will be opened. Jake: “hard to sit on” Harley: “big dreams, and then small” Jared: “life-changing”
