Absolutely love our visits to Kyabram Fauna Park! All staff are so lovely and approachable, will go out of their way to ensure your visit is one to remember and are happy to share their knowledge and time with visitors of the park (including helping me out with sunscreen when I totally spaced and forget to bring my own).
We were fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time and were able to see a lovely possum come out from her hidey for some apple and had a great chat with the bird keeper (sorry, his name escapes me right now), but he spent a good 15mins with us sharing his experience, love and knowledge for the cockies he cares for! We learnt many things including how to tell the difference between their genders, how some came to live at the park, not to mention the cheeky girl who kept untying my shoe laces 😆
We made friends with local Emu, Patches, who followed us around the park for the day, had a great feed from us and gave us many a giggle whilst we visited.
We also were lucky to be a part of the morning's Dingo experience, which has left us with many many memories for years to come. Thank you so very much to our keeper who made this experience one that we will treasure!
Keep up the great work KFP, until we see...

The collection of birds and animals at this place is really something special, and so are the people who care for them. The enclosures and aviaries were pristine and so well suited to their inhabitants, and all of the animals we saw were relaxed and able to display natural behaviours we haven't been able to witness before in captivity.
While maybe not as flashy as the bigger zoos with elephants and lions, this little fauna park really blew the rest of them out of the water in terms of what we were able to experience, see and do.
Among many highlights were seeing the spotted quolls enjoying some enrichment with their keeper, the fantastic large aviary with many species of birds, including two cheeky female bower birds, and a fantastic array of wild Birdlife including blue faced honeyeaters, red rumped parrots, a leucistic crested pigeon and more!
We made the trip up from Werribee on a whim, just for something different to do on a Saturday- but we left with some fantastic memories. We will...

The Kyabram Fauna Park is currently going through renovations now that it's tied in with the rest of the Victorian Zoo's program. So some things aren't available including most of the reptiles, but I'm exited for the new reptile house, and am hoping that next time I'll be able to spot an echidna.
My sisters, both under 12, enjoyed the trip as well as feeding various animals including kangaroos and emus. The prices were surprisingly cheap for a zoo (even the zoo's cafe was decently priced). I'll be getting a membership in the near future so I can visit whenever I want throughout the year.
You can view the meerkats from the cafe with no fee for zoo entry, though you need to get something from the cafe to stay but that's to be expected. There were benches throughout the park to rest in, though I feel they need updating as they were fairly narrow and low to the ground.
The only truely bad thing I can say about the park is that there were a surprising lack of bins and what bins there were around the park weren't seperated between recyclable or general waste though I suspect that more bins will be added in the...
