Tried out Mei Sen tonight as Red Lantern was closed, to say we were disappointed would be an understatement, sadly what we recieved was without a doubt the worst Chinese we've ever had, we ordered the king prawns on toast which cost $17 but once seeing what it was and tasting it I am pretty darn furious at the price we paid they're absolutely revolting and have some salty bacon like strip on them, the special fried rice wasnt all that special, it seemed to be burnt and we were lucky to have more than two pieces of pork and there were hardly any prawns, honestly there was bary anything in it at all and on top of that the container wasn't even full, the steak and black bean a dish I didn't think you could get wrong had a strong foul flavour and an even worse after taste, the chicken combination like the the steak and black bean had a strong foul flavour, the braised pork and plum sauce which the chef said he could do for us was actually sweet and sour braised pork which contains pineapples and the person who ordered it cannot eat pineapple it also had a clear layer of water or oil on it and tasted watered down (tasted by myself) and then the honey chicken thankfully it wasn't too bad there was just way too much honey, like it was all hardened at the bottom of the container, prawn crackers were alright though, sadly all but the honey chicken and prawn crackers went in the bin so we wasted an awful lot of money and most definitely...
Read moreWe placed an order for multiple dishes which included Special Fried Rice, lemon Chicken with separate sauce, Steak in Plum sauce and other dishes for a Saturday night treat. It took around 20 minutes to receive our order which was pretty good as they were quite busy. There was no Lemon Sauce with our order so after phoning them decided to go down and pick it up. A bonus, big bag of crackers, 6 mini spring roles and 2 tubs of lemon sauce. Thank you but the food was well below what I expected for the price. The fried rice looked like a packet mix and instead of being nice long grains was small and overcooked. The Beef in plum sauce looked curdled for use of a better word and after going down to pick up the lemon sauce I found it had a very strange taste and would of been better off with a squeeze of lemon juice. For the money I spent we all felt let down by the quality of the food and can say that we will not be ordering again from here. Most...
Read moreLove Chinese food but honestly, this food was less than ordinary, E.g. we purchased Peking duck in plum sauce, cost $22.oo, what we got was over cooked roast duck in one plastic takeaway container and the generic plum sauce like that you get to dip your spring rolls in from a backstreet café was in a separate container. Fried rice was burnt, combination chow mein, flavourless, overcooked mush. My advice would be if you are after even reasonable Chinese food whilst in Kyabram visit your other option or buy a...
