I came here 3 times during my trip in Australia because I couldn't get enough of this lake. I bathed in the tea tree oil diffused water and when I got out, my hair and skin were smoother than I could have imagined. It was so amazing. It's a busy beach with groups, families, and tourists, but if you drive around past the camps and find the trail on the right in the back, you can get away from the crowds with a slightly more secluded beach to yourself. Not too cold so as to freeze your toes when you first step in, but not too warm that it wouldn't be refreshing. Read moreWhen I was about 6 I learned to sail on lake Ainsworth... There were boats and windsurfers everywhere. Now 35 years later, not a boat to be seen as we launched a laser and I taught my B8 and G6 how to sail. There was a light fluky breeze and after 30 mins of tuition (push this to steer, pull this to sheet in) and a capsize drill they were off on their first duo-solo sail. Such a great safe place for this activity. Maybe we can see more boats out there again? My kids will be back out there...
