Dejour Jeans — Attraction in Melbourne

I recently had a disappointing experience at Dejour Jeans that I feel is important to share.

I visited the store intending to purchase corduroy pants that could be altered to fit me. As a male customer, I was recommended to try on a women's set of corduroy pants, which after alterations seemed to fit perfectly. I left the store satisfied with my purchase.

However, when I wore the pants to work a few days later, I was dismayed to find that the pockets were far smaller than expected. They were unable to accommodate items I typically carry, such as my phone and wallet. As I had not purchased women's pants before, I was not aware of this feature and was not informed about it at the time of purchase.

When I contacted Dejour Jeans' customer service, I was told that I could not return the jeans as the tag had been removed, despite the jeans having been specifically altered to fit me. I was also blamed for not having tested the pockets when trying on the jeans. I found this expectation unreasonable, as customers generally focus on the overall fit and comfort when trying on clothes, and it is not customary to check every functional aspect such as pocket size, especially without prior warning about potential differences.

Furthermore, I was told that the owner would contact me the following day, but I have not received any further communication, which added to my overall dissatisfaction with my experience.

I believe that customers should be made aware of significant functional differences in the garments they're purchasing, especially when it could affect their daily use. It is disappointing to experience such a lack of customer care from a local business. I hope this review will help others make informed decisions and that Dejour Jeans will take these issues into consideration to improve their customer service.

I couldn’t have been happier with my experience at Dejour Jeans yesterday. Prior to attending Dejour I called to confirm price, time frame for alterations and parking access as I was travelling two hours to Brunswick. The lady who assisted me over the phone couldn’t have been more helpful and informative with all of my requests. When I arrived I informed the shop assistant that my card had been stolen the week prior and didn’t have the physical card with me but could transfer the funds through, she was very understanding and assisted me with this. When trying jeans on, although staff were busy they continued to stop and assist me with alterations and new sizes etc. I was told when calling that jeans were $75 each so expected to pay $300 when purchasing four pairs. However was pleasantly surprised when they told me my cost came to only $270! I was then instructed to come back 1hr later, I came back exactly 1hr later and all was complete and waiting for me! All jeans were perfect too. Dejour Jeans, what a fantastic job you’re doing! I couldn’t recommend you more highly! I can’t wait to come...

Fantastic place, own three pairs of jeans from here now and r ally happy with all three. Oldest of which is coming up to about a year now and still going strong with regular use. They cost 55 each including altering and have taken between 60-90 mins to have altered and then been ready to go back and collect. Recommend if going on a Saturday to go early, it gets busy, you will need to line up outside to get in, then line up again to get to the changing rooms. Last time we were there for a good couple hours as a result - but I believe it's worth it for getting a great fitting, affordable pair of jeans. Had mine taken up to the be the perfect length, tapered at the ankle and knee for good skinny fit and then slits in the knees. Couple caveats to be aware of - colours can sometimes be limited in some sizes and styles, the place is nothing fancy to look at and the jeans definitely do stretch a decent amount which personally I like but means you don't want to go too loose fitting initially. Being on Sydney Road, there's plenty of cafes you can get a meal at nearby while you wait for the jeans...
