Incredible affordable high quality high value for money day out for the whole family. The Queue / Line for the tickets was about 10 minutes at about 11.10am, que for train ride about 15-20 minutes.
By the time we went for our second train ride at 12.30 the line was only 5 minutes, in peak spring (November) by the time we departed at 1pm, the queue was only a minute or two long.
The train ride goes for about 5 to 7 minutes. It goes fast and slow. The ride winds around a few times on different tracks, and includes a tunnel and a number of bridges including one that allows you to go over the top of another train. Very scenic ride, the kids loved it. Babies free. Saw lots of people with all aged kids.
Ride is accessable for plus size people, I fit comfortably as a 2xl. I saw another larger bodies adult who was probably about 4xl who also fit. The ride is short, if you go at the back of the carriage you can have back support. Legs/knees can feel a bit cramped but as the ride is short it's tolerable. It can be a little difficult to get in and out of the carriage so just take your time.
There was about 4 trains running which fit maybe 20-30 passengers, so the queue moves quickly.
Counted about 10-15 volunteers workers including ticket lady, line man, boarding man, train drivers, and others.
There was a coffee cart and a hot food / ice cream truck set up, a bit costly, but a nice treat. Tickets for the train $5 per person per...
Read moreWe visited the Diamond Valley Railway a couple of weeks ago and were appalled by the behaviour of one of the volunteers. Before the ride even began, he was speaking disrespectfully to other families who were waiting in the line. During the ride, my husband picked a small twig off a tree for our baby, and the driver stopped the entire train to publicly humiliate and berate him in front of everyone for several minutes. His tone was loud, aggressive, and completely unnecessary — so much so that I felt uncomfortable and unsafe, and others in our carriage heard everything.
When my husband later approached him calmly to ask for an apology, he refused and was again met with rudeness and hostility. The situation was handled incredibly poorly, and the lack of professionalism from both the individual and the committee that later defended his behaviour is deeply disappointing.
It’s unacceptable for any organisation — volunteer or otherwise — to allow this kind of intimidating conduct, especially in a...
Read moreJust celebrated my Grand Daughters 2nd Birthday at the wonderful Meadmore Station function facility at the Diamond Valley Railway. Despite the cold conditions it was a fantastic day and the Volunteer Staff on the day were all fantastic and could not do enough to assist with the days activities. The Rotunda has an arrangement of solid outdoor tables with bench seats and plenty more in front of the BBQ hot plate. We enjoyed 2 half hour sessions with the locomotive trains and what a thrill it is to ride on these wonderful scale replica engines. The railway network meanders through a stand of gum trees over bridges and through tunnels. Kids and BIG kids alike are all drawn to the rides which roll for up to 15 minutes each run. It is worth every cent when you consider everybody is a Volunteer and much of this establishment is donated and subsidised by the Ride fares. Thank you so much Diamond Valley Railway for a very special and...
