I had big expectations for this place, but I have to say that I was underwhelmed by the whole tour experience. First thing, the number of people booked for the tour was incompatible with the narrow corridors of the house and the extreme concern by the hosts on guests accidentally touching any of the walls or (of course) the art pieces. The amount of people and the hosts' obsession made the whole tour very uncomfortable. The host's anal behaviour got to a point that they told off a mother (ironically enough on mother's day) and asked her to stay behind because her baby was cooing, not louder than any of the parallel chats that were happening between the guests at the very same time. My wife and I had been invited by friends of ours and we were dubious if we wanted to see contemporary art, having never heard of the Museumhouse before. We were enthralled at the whole experience and would have loved to stay longer but can see the need to keep the tours restricted and to a time-frame. The yet-to-be-completed large extension is now a must-see for us in the near...

Designed by architect Corbett Lyon, the Housemuseum builds on a lineage of private art collections displayed in residential settings including Sir John Soane’s Museum in London, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice, and the Frick Collection in New York.
A great architectural achievement and a unique and extensive contemporary art selection. Highly...
