The Faculty Hawthorn — Restaurant in Melbourne

Used to be one of my favourite spots for brunch. No longer! Drove out of the way and walked in at 10am on a Saturday morning to be told the kitchen was “not operational” and I could pick something out of the cabinet only or get a drink. No signage or anything on the website/social media to warn. This has happened several times to family members, but I decided to take a chance today, thinking surely I could try the “all day dining” that the menu boasts of at peak hour on a Saturday. The Faculty Café in Hawthorn is hands down one of the best spots around. Their bacon and egg roll is unbeatable, perfectly cooked, full of flavour, and genuinely the best I’ve ever had. Pair it with their coffee (truly to die for), and you’ve got the ultimate breakfast combo.

The service is always warm and friendly, making you feel welcome the moment you walk in. You can tell the staff genuinely care about the experience.

A quick 20min lunch break working on Barkers Rd. Met up with a friend here and seriously the warmed chicken avo panini chosen from the display cabinet was simply divine. We both wolfed ours down!

Sat in the frontcorner window with afternoon sun rays highlighting the freshness of the ingredients on the table.

Great coffee and hot choc served with friendly conversation by staff.

Unfortunate the back area & room were not enticing to sit. Only downside.
