Nice temple. Visited because in India Swaminarayan temple is famous. As we entered the main hall, we saw the hall was divided with a big wooden wall. Men and women have to sit separate without being visible to each other. Soon afterwards katha followed and a lady asked us all women to leave the main hall and follow her. The men kept sitting in the main hall with the dieties and the priest doing katha while us women were taken to an adjacent empty hall where there were sound systems playing the prayers from main hall. I didn't get the discrimination by gender being pushed into us so went to the main office to ask the reason. "The reason men and women are separated is because of our religious rules." So, i asked, is it with all Swaminarayan temples across the globe where you discriminate by gender? The answer, "No, here in Melbourne due to covid we have decided to separate the crowd in two halls to avoid crowding." I said, "Fair enough, good decision. Read moreShree Swaminarayan Temple is one of the beautiful and peaceful temple located in Eastern suburbs in Boronia, Belgrave line. The temple's structure is beautiful and the inside is even more beautiful with many God and Goddesses sculptures and statues. There are statues of Shiva- Parvati, Rama, Ganesh, Hanuman and main statue Lord Shree Swaminarayan at the centre. The inside feel is absolutely peaceful. You don't have to wait for Pujari (Priest) for puja, you can bring your things and do puja by yourself, though there is a certain fixed times for arati & aradhana. You will get enough shoes & slippers space keeper outside the temple entrance, you will also get washrooms at the corner of first entrance. Further, you can also buy ladoos and other prasads just at the corner of the temple, but you have to check about its opening hours.
