I've driven past an entry point (on Springvale Rd) to this place for years and always assumed it was a cut-through. It's larger than it looks, and if the work done to improve the front of this recreational area is indicative of the improvements that will be made to the reserve as a whole, bravo! Strathdon House is a lovely community hub. The gravel track is wide and level. There is disabled parking near the police station at the Springvale Road entry point, and some additional parking off Davy Lane - though it seems one section of that is only opened when there are activities at Strathdon House itself. There are toilets, and quite a pretty garden. And I gather there are plans to have regular events and continue the improvements in the area. I look forward to seeing how it evolves. A tap with a water bowl is beside the toilets if your dog needs a drink.
There is a free electric bbq out the back with 2 hot plates that stops automatically.
Beside the bbq is newly built shelter with 2 tables each with 2 bench seats.
Around the House are lots of newly planted plants and a few metres away are some tall shade trees.
Two lawns have been planted, one out front and the other out the back.
There are a series of stainless steel bicycle holders that you can attach your bike to while you are there.
It’s well worth a visit if you have been fully vaccinated.
