Quite frankly I felt ripped off. We booked a Delux room, which is their standard room. We paid $300 a night to be placed in a room where the wardrobe was missing it's door. You shouldn't be placing guests in rooms when they are faulty. The rest of the room was just so horribly clinical. There were just tiles on the floor, nothing on the walls, a desk and a small table with 2 seats. The tv was tiny and you could barely see it from bed. In no way did it look like the picture on their website. And why 2 desk\table, where is a soft chair to just sit in? We complained about the wardrobe door and they moved us. The next room actually looked like the pictures advertised but it was so tired, just soooo old! We accepted the room but then didn't get any sleep as the air con had a constant high pitch ringing. We should have complained again but what was the point. They would just place us in another horrible room and the first move was already long and hard enough. Apart from the ringing air con, the lights had thick dust all over them, water damage above the door. The bed was meh. The bathroom was fairly awful, it had no extraction fan so it was a sauna when you got out of the showerbath (Goodluck if you don't have good balance). One of the towels ripped when I was drying myself. It did have a much bigger tv which was new, so that was positive. The pool towels they give you in the room are old and you will get fined if it's not taken back to the room. There is also no complimentary water or even bathrobes. It sounds picky, but many hotels in this price point all do this as standard. The pool is it's only redeeming feature but the sunloungers are all ripped and stained. They did up the infinity pool which is open to the public but they forgot to upgrade the hotel guest only lagoon pool. The swim up bar is kinda fun but don't go for the cocktails, they are really overpriced and just plain terrible ($20-22). The mango daiquiri has some cheap mango rum which has been pre-made and then Ice is just added to the blender. So you never see the alcohol go in and in what ratio. Just buy beer, then you know exactly what you get. There are actually some really good cocktail Bars in the CBD with prices around $18 and $15 for happy hour. Go and explore them.
There are signs around asking for you to excuse their appearance while they undergo renovations, what exactly is that pertaining too? The exterior or interior? Because they should really inform you when you are booking that they are undergoing renos. The staff are lovely, and the front desk staff did their absolute best, it's a tough job being front desk staff. In no way is this a reflection on the staff, but the owners who have neglected to maintain and upgrade the rooms over time. I spent almost a grand in accommodation for 3 nights but these rooms weren't worth more than $150 a night. Anything more is a rip. They felt more like motel rooms.
Edit: apparently i've been contacted twice and voicemails were left. Not really sure how they got my number since my partner made the booking and not me And my partner has not received anything. Also, I posted the review on a Monday but was contacted over the weekend??? So before my review was posted? That is some good psychic abilities you have...
Read moreUnfortunately my recent experience at your resort was so bad, I checked out a day early. When I arrived the gentleman who was acting as the Concierge was fantastic! Extremely happy and welcoming. I thought it was a great start. I was greeted by a very unfriendly lady at reception who checked me in. I went to my room and tried to settle in. As I was on an early flight, I went to close the blinds and have a nap. I discovered that the T.V in the bedroom was faulting and the blind in the bedroom was broken. I went downstairs to report it. I asked for them both to be looked at or could I please have another room. The gentleman who was at Reception said they could get someone to look at the TV but all the blinds in the rooms were the same so I would have the exact same problem. He went on to tell me that I was closing it incorrectly. I asked could they look at it anyway while attending to the TV. I knew I was operating the blind correctly and that the maintenance person would see for themselves. I went out for a while and when I came back to the room the TV was fixed but not the blind. On Friday the same thing happened, the TV was faulting. I rang downstairs and asked for someone to have a look. One of the Concierge team and was extremely helpful and fixed it to which I was very grateful. I ended up placing a book on the bottom of the blind to try and hold it and left it at that. I wanted to do some shopping so I went downstairs and was told by a different concierge team member that the city was a good place to go shopping. He gave me a map and ordered me a taxi. I happily took his advise and off I went. Problem was that it was a public holiday and everything was closed. I was annoyed at my complete waste of time and taxi fare money and returned to my room. On the Saturday, a magical pair of curtains had been hung up in my bedroom. Now, I had only mentioned the blinds once on the Thursday and didn't bring it up again after being made to feel like an idiot, but obviously either the person who attended or the cleaning staff had also noticed. On the Sunday afternoon, I went to open the cupboard door on the dresser in the bedroom and the door fell off and hit my foot. I was furious and in a lot of pain. I expected a higher quality of room for the price that I paid. I ended up changing my flight and checking out first thing on the Morning. I paid for my room in advance. I wasn't asked if I would like a credit voucher for a night (seeing that I had paid till the Tuesday) or any type of refund for the unused stay. I was nothing but kind, considerate to all staff, tipped every service person I encountered and extremely polite. Pity the Reception staff didn't hold their guest in the same regard. I will definitely be staying at SkyCity...
Read moreConsidering I paid close to $400 per night and stayed for two nights at the lagoon resort I must say I was extremely disappointed. It was my wife's 40th birthday and spent over $3500 in two days ranging from accommodation to hosting a birthday party for 30 people at one of your restaurants and not to mention the gambling. First disappointment was calling for towels at 9am receiving them at 5pm. Secondly ordering a meal at the pool bar and being told after we ordered that we needed to get out of the pool and eat at the top. It was windy and rainy and was really uncomfortable eating when we were wet. Thirdly had a lunch booking with my family including my kids at Il'piato and it was raining really heavily with practically cyclonic winds. I walked through the gaming area as it is the only access apart from going outside to get to il piatto. I walked the majority of way and was roughly 10 meters from the entrance of the restaurant only to be stopped by security and a manager to be told no kids allowed and had to go to restaurant from outside. I explained that it was raining extremely heavily and that we would all be soaked and that we were only a few metres away but he was so rude that he wouldn't let us through. He wouldn't even escort us another way so we wouldn't get wet. As a result we were soaking wet and my kids were freezing in the restaurant. Behaviour of the Gaming manager (had an American ascent) was disgusting and appalling and for a 5 start facility absolutely not to standard. For a 5 star facility and being in Darwin there should be access under cover. The forth disappointment was that we had already paid for our meal at il piatto but forgot to use or meal vouchers that were given to us upon check in. We asked if we could have them honoured after being told sorry can't help you while we were still finishing our desserts. The only positive I have is the service at Vue restaurant. The manager Lolita was excellent and very professional. I will not be in a hurry to come and will certainly find it hard to recommending this hotel to family, friends or work colleagues. I am a territorian for close to 50 years and your lack of service and hospitality isn't something to...
