We visit Hunter Valley often. This time it was a late birthday treat for me. The reviews and pictures looked like what I wanted exactly. So made a booking. Easy booking and reasonable price! Hands up πŸ™ŒπŸΌ the Leogate Estate is Gorgeous, Serene, Peaceful, Perfectly equipped, organised, Very Clean πŸ‘πŸ‘, Friendly and helpful staff, and 5 minutes drive to all amazing restaurants and Hunter valley gardens. What was different? Well for starters they don’t charge you for the nibbles, food, drinks provided in your villa. Makes sense, right? You pay for the room but get charged for what’s included in there … These guys have well thought and well provided for their guests. πŸ’― for their idea of how the guests should be treated. Large terrace with amazing sunset πŸŒ… view. So romantic and beautiful. Safe location. Away from main road nosiness and hassle. Each room had its own fully equipped bathroom. All areas had a Split AC system, so each of us were able to sleep at a comfortable room temperature suitable to our liking. Each area has a TV and allowed us to watch what each of us preferably wanted. We were gifted with their oldest collection of wine 🍷. It was divine πŸ‘Œ. Thank you 😊. Plenty towels and important kitchen appliances are also available. Has a sink πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸΌ. Thank you πŸ™. Great for singles, young couples and families with kids . They have their own restaurant and Distillery. So have their own wine!!! They also provide you with breakfast in your room. See video. It’s was perfect, and gourmet!!! All Australian made. Thank you for such lovely hospitality. We will definitely be back . πŸŒΈπŸŒΈπŸŒΈπŸŒΈπŸŒΈπŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹πŸ¦‹

Went for an anniversary dinner and was seated in front of the wood fired hearth. Could not fault the service being a 5/5 with the nice touch of welcome drinks, amuse bouche and bread, which saved the review's rating from the fairly disappointing 3/5 for the food alone. Entree 2/5: Oysters were fairly average, the tuna tartare special was a disappointment as it was a strange texture and flavour that erred on a very neutral side. It wouldn't be a surprise if the tuna was not fresh as we are in the middle of hunter valley and it showed... Mains 3/5: the cheateubriand was cooked well, tender and flavourful, but the huge portion size for 2 made us neutral, moreso sick of it towards the end. The chips were a flop, and reminded us of soggy maccas chips that was just tacked on to the menu because they have to have chips out of the option of truffle mash potato and normal mash. The truffle mash was a nice contrast in comparison. The salad was fairly standard, seemingly drenched in oil and should not come with an added fee (as we certainly wouldn't purchase it again). We had just been languishing at La Roche Bar and their chips with gravy was a blessing from heaven in comparison to this high school student attempt at cutting potatoes and frying them. Dessert 4/5: excellent blend of flavours, sweetness and texture. Would recommend.

Just had the 5 course degustation here and we were not that impressed with the service standard and the freshness of the food preparation. For $110/head, I would expect a lot more. Firstly - for table settings, they put all 4 sets of cutlery out at the same time so they didn’t have to reset between courses. This is unheard of in a degustation setting - especially with a small table? Vibe ruined. Next - they had music playing from Spotify but THERE WERE ADS. It only costs about $13/month to get a premium account. Listening to Maccas ads in a beautiful setting seems contrary to the experience design. Lastly - the food was not flavourful, average at best. Many shortcuts, including precut and pre-prepared salad vegetables that didn’t look fresh as part of the plating, the same use of decorative elements (ie. sprouts?!) across all dishes. Service was pleasant but completely perfunctory.

It’s the small things that make the difference to an experience. The setting and the accommodation is superb. We stayed at the Gatehouse, which is a beautiful house at the top of the hill. It’s a great shame that the lack of a little effort by the staff tarnished our stay. We were aware that the cellar door was open until 5pm. We arrived at 3pm for a tasting. At 3:30 I left for a brief period to pick up my daughter and popped in to the local cheese factory to pick up some cheese to enjoy with our tasting. I got back to the cellar door at about 3:45. It was too much trouble for the staff to bring us 2 plates and a knife to enjoy the cheese with the wine tasting. Instead, we had to break the cheese blocks with our finger and eat directly from the table. Having finished our tasting at about 4pm, we bought a bottle of wine. We would liked to have enjoyed a glass where we’d been sitting at the cellar door. But oh no, not possible for the staff to provide 2 wine glasses for us as β€œwe only have 1 staff member here from 4:30.” There were 3 staff members present at the time of asking. Providing 2 wine glasses and giving them a rinse was clearly far too much trouble for them....
