Holm Oak Vineyards — Attraction in Rowella

A local lady recommended, (actually almost insisted), I go to Holm Oak Winery after I ‘met’ her in a local store. She was right on the money. The vineyard itself is picturesque - tucked away in gorgeous countryside, with the vines anchored to beautiful rich soil - I think that’s why the wine is so stunning. I arrived 10 minutes after closing time but Karen, Cellar Door Manager and vineyard doggo welcomed me in! I am a red wine girl and in my head I was only getting Merlot and Pinot Noir until Karen had me taste the Pinot Noir Chardonnay Sparking - it is the cleanest yet literally ‘creamy’ sparklingly wine I have tasted! I was in a camper van and worried how I would be able to get my ‘purchases’ home - Karen took that worry away by packaging it up and sending it to me. The parcel arrived last Friday - the day before my birthday - a bottle of the Sparkling was shared with friends who are also now fans. The packaging ensured no breakages and is also great for storing the wine (see pics) - not that it will last long! Moral of the story;

2. always knock on the cellar door even if it’s 10 past closing
3. don’t bother about other Tamar Valley wineries - just go to Hom Oak!
