Wedding Cake Rock Trail — Attraction in Royal National Park

The Wedding Cake Rock Trail is a beautiful coastal walk that’s surprisingly easy to complete. The track is only about 1 hour round trip from Bundeena, making it perfect for a quick escape into nature. Although there are a few sections with slight uphill and downhill sections, it’s still an accessible trail for most people with a moderate level of fitness.

The $12 national park entry fee is totally worth it for the incredible views and the experience of walking through the stunning Australian coastline. It’s a fantastic spot for whale and dolphin watching during the right season!

A beautiful, relatively easy to walk trail running along the coast. Gorgeous views and well paved walkways along the way. You can easily make the return trip in under 1.5 hours. There is one place where you have to take stairs up and down, which can be a bit challenging for not fit individuals.

You can watch whales 🐋 when they migrating on this walk.

Also, be aware of snakes. Although the trail is very popular, you can encounter some brown snakes along the way.

The Wedding Cake Rock itself is blocked off and pretty disappointing. However, you can find plenty of places to sit down and enjoy the view.

The Wedding Cake Rock Trail is a 3.4km walk from Bundeena. The walk takes between 45-60 minutes to complete each way. The track includes walking up and down stairs at some points. The walk is moderate. Make sure you’ve got plenty of water and food - there’s no shop or cafes here. There is a toilet at the start of the track, not dar from the road where you park your car. I saw lots of people inappropriately dressed for the walk. I strongly recommend wearing pants, exercise shoes and light clothing (particularly in summer).
