Just walked the coastral track from Otford to Bundeena. It was 28km from the station in Otford to Bundeena Wharf. The air temperature was around 30C and we carried 4L of water each which was about right.

This is a very beautiful trail and I highly recommend it. The track is mostly very well maintained (with kudos to the National Park and the volunteers for the hard work they put in) so we made excellent time - typically 4-5 km/h.

The steep climb out of Otford station was a bit of a surprise, and the noise from the variouis tree bugs in the forest at the start was literally deafening. We had to shout at each other to be heard.

Going across the beachs in the first part of the walk was a bit disheartening because the beaches aren't very attractive and there is a lot of trash all over them. Hiking down to the beaches, across them and back up in the hot sun was exhausting and it was a relief to have a nice long stretch across the cliff top.

The second half of the walk (the half closer to Bundeena walk) is much more attractive. If I do this again I'll just do a there-and-back from Bundeena. The beaches are gorgeous with hardly any people on them. The rock formations are amazing and the views are fantastic.

The Coastal Track is definitely a...

The Coast Track in Bundeena, part of the Royal National Park in New South Wales, is one of Australia’s most iconic hiking trails. Stretching 26 kilometers between Bundeena and Otford, the track offers breathtaking coastal views, secluded beaches, and diverse ecosystems, making it a bucket-list adventure for nature enthusiasts.

The trail typically takes two days to complete, with a popular overnight stop at North Era Campground. Highlights along the way include Wedding Cake Rock, Marley Beach, Wattamolla, and Eagle Rock. Each of these landmarks provides unique experiences, from dramatic cliffs and rock formations to tranquil lagoons and waterfalls.

The track features well-maintained paths but includes sections of steep climbs, uneven terrain, and sand tracks, requiring moderate fitness. Hikers are rewarded with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, vibrant wildflowers, and opportunities to spot native wildlife such as kangaroos and birds. Swimming and picnicking spots along the way add to the charm.

Planning is essential, as water refill points are limited, and weather conditions can change quickly. Whether you undertake the full two-day trek or explore a shorter section, the Coast Track offers a memorable escape into...

Very very long. Very very exposed. Very Very hot and potentially very windy. You are right on top of the cliffs and in the coastal heath. There is nowhere to hide. Be aware of thunderstorms as that could get a bit funky if u are up there.

For the inexperienced , majority of the track is on a raised path so really makes it easy. Just long.

On a 28c day I consumed 8 litres of water from the time I arrived at Cronulla station and the time I arrived back at town hall.

I ate 4000 calories of food. I crammed food in the am (big protein / carb early breakfast then huge bowl of musli and yogurt at trail head) to keep a head of the energy requirements however I was still running on empty when ascending to oxford.

Amazing walk. like actually top top walk. This is a must do. Around every headland another amazing view.

Swam naked at garrie. Saw only a few people, no thru hikers. Just a few out and back day trippers.

was on the ferry at 830 am and back at town hall at 7pm.

And saw snakes. One big python. A grass snake (or baby brown) and a tiger. Saw a large school of fish. Saw eagles.

Very doable even for people of...
