The gaol it’s self was interesting but the rest of it was a little bit weird, looked like a bad charity shop. They lady working was strange reminded me of a horror movie, every time we came out of a room she seemed to be lurking, in the court yard she got a leaf blower out and blew invisible leaves around. My daughter said maybe all those creepy looking dolls used to be people, forever trapped in there now, we didn’t go into all rooms as it’s a very strange disorganised place, so maybe that’s why we are not dolls and we lived to tell the tale of the...

I spent a good hour here today fully entertained and only left as I had the dog with me. There’s plenty to see, more than expected that’s for sure. 18 rooms of history both from the Gaol itself it also collections from the whole area. You can certainly get a feel of life in the ā€˜old times’ of Silverton and of the many mining exploits throughout the region. Everyone would find something of interest whether that’s family life or mining. Got to be...

WOW was I mistaken, I would be in and out of this small museum in the matter of a few minutes, so so wrong. This is a huge museum covering the whole of the history of the town of Silverton, from the beginning of the mining, and showing all aspects of the whole town over the years. While we had limited time and rushed through in only a couple of hours, you could spend almost all day here. Please do not judge this book by it's cover,...

Very inexpensive entry, and a huge collection of antiques and artefacts. While we were expected the museum to be more orientated around Silverton and the Gaol, the museum was mostly a collection of items, rather than information and antiques specific to the gaol. We spent about 45 minutes here, and our dog was allowed to join us all which was great.
