We loved this history museum, we only needed an hour to see it all and enjoy it. Loved all the Ancient Egypt section: the extensive Papyrus collection, scarab & amulets. The story about how the papyrus was bought from an Austrian dealer and how he came about getting the papyrus was so interesting! Ancient Greece section was also very enjoyable, with amazing pottery. A local history section provides a small insight into colonial times as well as some WWII memories. There’s a beautiful Torres Straits Headdress and some amazing Aboriginal carved Spears & fishing tools also. I appreciated the details about Ethics and the Uni voluntarily repatriating items to Egypt & Italy. Definitely worth a stop for an hour or so. It’s free entry & we were the only ones there on our visit so it was quiet and we could guide ourselves around at a leisurely pace.
