With its delightful reputation and aesthetically pleasing venue I had taken a friend from overseas to check it out. Naturally, she wanted to take photos due to the nice decor and lovely view however we were rudely told not to take photos by an employee stating that he didn't want to be in the photos. Despite reassuring him that he was not in the photos and that we were taking photos of the venue itself, he was still passively aggressive and insisted we don't take photos of him. I explained that this was my friend's first time being here, hence wanting to document the experience, however, he was still not satisfied and asked us to leave. Should he have been more respectful during this interaction, I wouldn't have been as disappointed as I was after leaving the vicinity. It is hard to say if I will ever recommend this place again if this is how they treat people who just want to take nice photos of a...
Read moreEver since it moved locations, the bar has been disappointing. Customer service is great, but this is tremendously offset by the fact that the bar now resembles a cramped collection of tables disjointedly put together. Instead of the view overlooking the lake and fountain, one now has a view of students walking to and from the library. Prices of certain drinks have gone up. Shipping containers painted black, placed randomly throughout the bar merely take up valuable space for patrons. Ironically, they offer little by way of privacy too. You can hear with succinct clarity, the hipsters behind or adjacent to you, bragging about their National Lampoon-esque adventures in Europe - adventures of which nobody gives two flying f**s about. With the increase in prices, one may as well go to their local pub. At least, in such an environment, there will be a less likelihood of one encountering these...
Read moreI was under the impression uni bars were supposed to be cheaper than the average pub or bar - and they were at one point, before moving locations. It's a similar price now. This isn't a problem. However, what is a problem is that the bar is a thoroughfare for many people trying to navigate in and out of the food court. International students run amok with no sensitivity to their surroundings. This largely contributes to a poor atmosphere.
Not to mention the pizza's are very average. Received one today which was so unevenly and poorly sliced such that it was very difficult to separate the toppings on each slice, from other slices. Was a mess to eat.
Also, turn the television down if there's no special event on. Nobody cares about what 90's sitcom is running...
