A steep but short walk down from West Head to historic World War II gun embankments on the coast. The new track was opened in May 2016, and follows the original wartime track down to the West Head Battery (WHB). Great for kids, as many of the old WWII structures can be explored. (For the more adventurous, at low tide you can follow the rocks around the coast to Flannel Flower Beach).

West Head Army Track is a must to do in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park (12$ entry fee or you may buy annual pass). A short yet difficult track to reach to amazing views and explore West Head Battery. Army used it as the frontier point against invasion during WW2. Not suitable for children as includes steps and ladder. Bring water and hat. Highly recommended.

Incredible views of the Bay and surrounding bush lands. Entry and parking fees are reasonable. Walk down and up to the military relics are challenging - especially if you have to carry a little one either way! Well worth the sweaty hike though.

Well worth the walk. Now that they have fixed the track up and put in some steps its pretty easy to get to the gun emplacements. Its great to see that a piece of our history is being looked after. Bring some water and a snack and enjoy the place when you get down there. Its a bit of a climb back up but just...
