Amazing views, architecture, and Tyrolean history

We visited Bergisel Ski Jump in May, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Innsbruck. The ski jump itself, designed by Zaha Hadid, is a stunning piece of architecture. We took the funicular and elevator up to the top, and the panoramic views over Innsbruck and the surrounding Alps were absolutely breathtaking—even without snow on the ground!

It was really cool to stand where the athletes take off—gives you a whole new respect for ski jumping. There’s also a cozy café at the top where we enjoyed coffee with a view.

The visit also includes entry to the Tyrol Panorama Museum (not the Olympic Museum), which features a fascinating look at Tyrolean history, culture, and an impressive 360° panoramic painting.

Schanze top, Service ein Flop! Die Bergisel Schanze in Innsbruck ist wahrlich eine sehenswerte Anlage und mehr positives gibt es leider auch nicht zu berichten. Auf der Rückreise aus unserem Urlaub in Italien, planten wir noch eine Zwischenübernachtung in Innsbruck ein, um uns die Anlage mal anzuschauen. Wir begaben uns in das große Gebäude unterhalb des Parkplatz und kauften Tickets zur Schanzenbesichtigung inkl. Auffahrt zum Turm. Die Dame empfahl uns noch das Kombiticket für die Besichtigung des Museums im Gebäude welches aber mit Skispringen nichts zu tun hat. Oben am Auslauf der Schanze angekommen, sahen wir, dass wir die Tickets auch hier hätten lösen können und zugleich den Hinweis, dass der Schrägaufzug wegen technischer Probleme geschlossen war. Bei der Dame unten am Parkplatz war davon aber keine Rede als sie uns die Karten verkaufte. Auf unsere Frage wie wir da nach oben kommen, wurde uns ein Shuttlebus angeboten, welcher auch wenige Minuten später eintraf. Gut okay fahren wir eben damit nach oben. Nur leider wissen wir bis heute nicht was dem Typen mit dem schwarzen Mercedes Transporter geritten hat, so mit fremden Menschen an Bord zu fahren. Hatte er keine Lust auf seinen Job, oder wollte er mal zeigen was er kann, wir wissen es nicht. Auch das unmissverständliche Kommentar der Dame auf dem Beifahrersitz hielt ihn nicht davon ab mal eine Runde wilde Sau zu spielen. Ganz bestimmt gehörte das Fahrzeug auch nicht zu seinem Privatbesitz, denn so geht man doch nicht mit dem eigenen Fahrzeug um. Nach der Besichtigung der Schanze, wählten wir sehr gern den Weg zu Fuß nach unten. Doch unten angekommen war auch schon das nächste Dilemma da. Unsere Tochter ist leidenschaftlicher Skisprungfan und hatte sich im Vorfeld wohl online so einige Souvenirs angeschaut, die sie da vor Ort sehr gern kaufen wollte. Nur wurde leider auch daraus nichts, weil hier einfach mal der Laden um 15.00 Uhr schließt. Es werden weiter Leute rein gelassen, aber zu kaufen gibt es nichts mehr. Ganz stark! Auf unsere Frage ob denn das Kind noch einmal kurz am nächsten Tag wenigstens sich ihre Souvenirs kaufen könnte, wurde uns gesagt ja aber sie müsste natürlich erneut Eintritt bezahlen. Was ist denn das bitte? Auf unsere Beschwerde per Mail die wir inzwischen abgeschickt hatten, wurde uns als "Entschädigung" für die Unannehmlichkeiten kostenlos Kaffee und Kuchen im Turmrestaurant angeboten. Da wir ja aber mittlerweile wieder am Parkplatz angekommen waren, hätten wir ja wieder hinauf laufen müssen und auf das "Speedshuttle" warten müssen. Oder wir kommen am nächsten Tag wieder, bezahlen noch einmal Eintritt für alle zuzüglich Parkgebühren um den gratis Kaffee plus Kuchen zu bekommen. Eins sei gesagt, behaltet euren Kaffee und Kuchen darauf sind wir ganz sicher nicht angewiesen. Für das was hier an Parkgebühren und Eintritt verlangt wird, ist der Service einfach nur abartig.
