I went to college in Salzburg ~20 years ago and went back to visit this summer (2025). So this was my second time visiting the "pavilion".
It's the gazebo from the American movie The Sound of Music, specifically appearing in the scene where the girl sings about being "16 going on 17" with a boy who turns out to be a literal Nazi. It's neat, I guess, especially if you're a fan of the movie. You're not allowed inside it; I was told on my first visit that they stopped allowing it because people kept falling through the glass trying to replicate the scene.
But now it's got this whole thing in it advertising the local professional football team, including that there's a few large tv monitors and a kitted out mannequin inside it. So it's practically impossible to get a photo of the gazebo itself without also getting the tacky ad stuff.

Read moreThe Sound of Music Pavillon - of course - a highlight for every Sound of Music Fan from around the world. Its a must to see - even its NOT the original. The original is simply build in the Fox-Studios in Los Angeles and this simply a Copy. But doesn't matter. Its a beautiful location. Right opposite in the Helbrunner Allee had been filmed some scenes of "I have confidence" (when Marie left the bus and walks to the door of the family Von Trap).
