Laaerbergbad — Attraction in Vienna

My son was really looking forward to jumping off the diving boards which were closed. He talked to a lifeguard who said it would be open tomorrow. The next day we came and the boards were still closed and a different lifeguard said it would open tomorrow!. Otherwise there was a great wave pool and excellent lap pool with a diving platform and kiddie pool if you’re planning to bring your toddler. Great old-school public pool. Plan to spend the whole day there! There are several different pools: kiddy, wave and an olympic sized pool which is great for laps, though only in the mornings before the crowds show up. The pool has a diving tower (up to 10m) that they open at certain times of the day for the daring among the guests. The pools are located in a huge park with lots of trees for shade and some quiet corners away from the pools. Good food options, incl. vegan burgers. Das Personal war freundlich und hilfsbereit – allerdings fehlt es leider völlig an Disziplin unter den Besuchern. Obwohl alle den gleichen Eintrittspreis zahlen (in meinem Fall 6 €), fühlt man sich als Gast ausgeschlossen, weil viele sich absolut rücksichtslos verhalten.

Sobald die Wellen im Becken starteten, rannten die Leute kopflos los, schubsten, sprangen auf andere drauf – ohne Rücksicht auf Kinder oder Mitmenschen. Wir mussten uns zurückziehen, um unser Kind zu schützen, da es einfach zu gefährlich wurde.

In einem anderen Becken saßen mehrere Mütter dauerhaft mit dem Handy in der Hand und filmten. Das mag für manche in Ordnung sein, aber viele Eltern möchten nicht, dass ihre Kinder ungefragt auf fremden Videos landen – besonders im Hinblick auf Datenschutz.

Das Bad war total überfüllt. Es gab keine freien Plätze zum Sitzen, viele Liegen waren kaputt, und man hatte das Gefühl, dass es keinerlei Besucherlimit gibt. Außerdem war an dem Tag auch die Polizei vor Ort – angeblich wegen eines Diebstahls.

Dieses Bad hat eigentlich Potenzial, aber es fehlt an klaren Regeln und einer besseren Kontrolle. Nur so könnten sich alle sicher und wohl fühlen. Wenn sich nichts ändert, werde ich auch bei freiem Eintritt nicht...
