We got in Wolfsburg during weekend, which is a small city located little more than one hour by train from Berlin, to visit the Autostadt (Automobile City) that would include the visit to the Volkswagen factory, however they told us that there were some visitors attractions but the factory was closed during weekends for visit. Then, since Serge is a VW lover and he was also a VW Sales Representative for more than 10 years working in Ottawa and Montreal, he was decided to visit the VW factory, so we went back during next week to visit Autotadt, that is a visitor attraction adjacent to the VW Factory, including the modern and interesting visit to the VW Factory. The entrance fees are not expensive, we think it was around $ 15 euros for the day ticket that included the Factory tour, the VW museum and and the totally modern system of the Car Towers Ascent. There are restaurants and stores located in Autostadt and near the train station you will find an outlet shopping mall in case you want to do some shopping or just eat something outside of Autostadt as we did. The pictures are not allowed inside of the VW Factory tour, but we can tell that is really worth to do it, so try to visit there during business days, not weekends as we did for Discovering. Eli: 5 / Serge: 5 Recommended: Yes, we would recommend for those are VW fans as Serge ☺ and cars in general.

Several keypoints worth noting here: - Google Maps knows nothing about (walking) guidance to enter the complex: It was a tiny walk from the Designer Outlets; there's a bridge that takes you there directly. - Accessibility throughout the complex is superb; lots of elevators and sidewalks are nicely paved 👌🏻 - I booked a Tour and Tower tour for my parents and me in Spanish through the phone 3 months prior our visit, I paid, everything was confirmed, but when we got there I was told they didn’t know about it, the guy at the front desk was going to simply say “yeap we have nothing about it, you have to call the customer service line” I of course did not accept that as a solution. Anyway, we were going to instead be enrolled in an English tour, I accepted but demanded a refund because that’s not what I had booked, when did this the guy asked me to wait for a moment then went RUNNING and found the kindest Brazilian guy who spoke the cutest Spanish, the tour ended up being a full success, my parents loved it. But if hadn’t been a bit difficult, they wouldn’t have done much about it - Btw, the tour tower is a must, you go up in the same elevator they use to move the cars ready to be given to new owners! Such a nice view of Wolfsburg from the top 👌🏻 - The factory tour was also great, so crazy to see all those robots in action, I recommend

Quite a disappointing experience overall. When I was planning this trip, we were to arrive in Wolfsburg on the monday and depart on the wednesday, allowing a full day for the autostadt. However the factory tour dates were not published so I booked the initial entrance, overview tour and the tower tour and checked back daily for the factory tour. When October bookings were available, the tuesday was not, we had to arrive earlier than planned on monday, quite rushed and pay the initial entrance fee a second time. The place attracts a lot of overseas visitors which requires planning so I feel we should be able to book everything for the same day as one day is really enough here. The factory tour itself was very underwhelming having previously visited the porsche and mercedes sites in Stuttgart. It left late so was cut short, which didn't really matter as we only got brought around in a golf train to be shown robots making body panels. There were no workers to be seen assembling engines on the tour at all. The overview tour was quite basic, covering the grounds and pavillions. The museum, even though it had a lot of cars, had very little in the way of racing memorabilia and the gift shop had no small souvenirs like pens or fridge magnets etc. The tour of the tower was the only saving grace, it was quite impressive. All of the staff we met were very friendly and helpful but all in all it just resembled an oversized showroom.

Came expecting an insane collection. Such a big campus, so little cars. Porsche had 3 cars you were allowed to sit in, but nothing more. No battery meant not being able play around with controls.. A nice simulator where you got to choose any Porsche any track and race. No manual transmission.. Lamborghini sucked so bad. Waited till half past 30 for "the show" to start. One Aventador LP 750-4 driving on an extremely cheaply and poorly made CGI road, if you can call it that, on a small screen, low res, pixelated views..Then they revealed the actual vehicle mounted on the wall with even cheaper smoke effects not synced with effects on screen...Audi had more cars/suvs but the place was so dark, flash had no chance. I'd go directly to ZeitHaus. That was better. I liked the cross sections. PremiumClub had the mirror like Veyron... VW has turmfahrt, the big skyscraper automated parking structure elevator thingy.... Apparently had to book outside driving experience weeks in advance. Didn't look that special either. Massive campus, beautiful river and boat ride. Best part of the campus was the sightseeing like the Kleine Gärten... i didn't even get the "buy your car and have it delivered there" idea... couldn't find anything special to do that... again only ZeitHaus was nice car-wise.. really wished to be amazed.. not so much..

“Automobile City” in English, Autostadt, next to Wolfsburg’s Volkswagen factory, is many things rolled into one cutting-edge attraction. There’s a museum on the history of automobiles, as well as a delivery centre where customers are presented with their newly-minted Volkswagen to drive home. You can also test drive cars at the Autostadt, including the 4×4 Volkswagen Touareg on an off-road course. And hundreds of new VWs are stacked in two 60-metre silos and are automatically conveyed here from the factory along a 700-metre glass tunnel. The Autostadt also has seven pavilions, each for a different car manufacturer. you have to see the Premium Clubhouse, which has top-of-the-line sports cars like a Bugatti Veyron. in a sensational glass building in the Autostadt is a multi-brand car museum chronicling the 130-year history of the automobile. The museum has picked out a host of epochal vehicles that represent a leap in the evolution of the car, based on criteria like production methods, design concept, appearance or the vehicle’s technology. In the exhibits are a replica of the Benz Patent-Motorwagen from 1888 and the first VW Beetle, personally driven by Ferdinand Porsche. Among the many other classics are the Volkswagen Type 2 van from 1949, a Jaguar E-Type and a Porsche 356.

Autostadt in Wolfsburg is an absolute must-see for anyone who loves cars or technology. From the moment you arrive, you are immersed in a world of automotive innovation and history. The Car Tower is a true highlight of the Autostadt experience. It is a breathtaking 50-meter-tall glass structure that houses over 400 new cars, and the views from the top are absolutely stunning. You'll get a panoramic view of the surrounding area and a chance to see all of the latest Volkswagen models up close. But the fun doesn't stop there. Autostadt also has a test track where you can try out different Volkswagen models for yourself, a pavilion that displays historic and concept cars, and a theater that presents films about the history of the automobile. It is truly a one-of-a-kind experience that you won't find anywhere else. And if you get hungry, don't worry - Autostadt has a number of restaurants, cafes, and shops to choose from. It is a great place to spend a day out, whether you are a local or just visiting. Overall, Autostadt is an absolute must-see destination. It is a unique and interactive experience that is sure to impress and educate visitors of all ages. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to learn more about the world of automobiles!
