On a seven day Celebrity Cruise the day at CocoCay was what I was looking forward to the most. Who wouldn’t want to go to a place called The Perfect Day at CocoCay? It was only my third cruise and my first to the eastern Caribbean. Each port that I’ve been to has had something special but CocoCay is about having fun and relaxing.

We got off the ship about 10:30. We wanted a 2.5 mile walk. I like that they have lots of large maps with “you are here” along all the paths. You can walk or take the tram around the island with stops at many of the beaches and attractions. They even have a tram that can take a wheelchair or electric scooter.

We did a lap around the lagoon just off the pier and then followed the map to South Beach which is at the northern side of the Cay. You walk through Buttonwood path which is a shady beautiful short path to get to South Beach.

You can get drinks or food at South Beach or really almost anywhere on the island. We stopped at the Snack Shack for a Spicy Grilled Chicken sandwich. While we enjoyed lots of food on the Island this was our favorite single thing we ate. Soda stations are also near any place that serves food. You can get a soda, Ice tea or water with ice and have a fixing bar for your burger or chicken sandwich.

A great part of CocoCay is that you can get a chair with an umbrella at any of the beaches. When we got off our ship there was the Equinox at the port and I thought it would feel busy on the island but it never was hard to find a chair on the beach or at a bar/snack bar.

Our group all met for lunch at Chill Grill. It’s a large open air pavilion with lots of tables inside and outside the pavilion. Drink/fixing bars are located around the pavilion. It was great as we could each have what we wanted. The selection isn’t as good as on the ship but more than enough for anyone. There are stations for salad, fruit, burger/hot dog, chicken, mexican and more.

We had drinks at The Wacky Seagull. It’s a small bar with high top tables and a nice place to get out of the sun. My wife and I had mocktails. Our friends had a Bahama Moma and a Tequila Sunrise. A bonus was that our favorite bartender from Apex was working there.

The island is less than a mile long and 480 yards wide. While we walked 2.5 miles for exercise it was doing a few loops around the lagoon and other parts of the Cay. I wish there was a running path. You can’t walk/run on the tram paths which is too bad. It would make for a great run or bike ride.

I wish Celebrity had a cruise with a two days and one night stay at CocoCay. How fun would it be to have music on the beach to dance...

Just got off Utopia of the seas where we visited this private island destination for the first time. It is amazing and so much to do. Fun fact that royal need two ships in order to really run everything.

Perfect Day at CocoCay is the ultimate blend of thrills and relaxation — Royal Caribbean’s redesigned private island in The Bahamas, created to deliver an unforgettable vacation day for cruisers of all ages .

Spanning roughly 120–125 acres, the island was transformed in 2019 with top-tier attractions and serene chill zones . At the heart of the experience is Thrill Waterpark, featuring 13 slides, including Daredevil’s Peak — the tallest waterslide in North America at 135 ft — along with dual towers, the Caribbean’s largest wave pool, and a floating obstacle course called Adventure Pool .

Then there’s Oasis Lagoon, the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool (over 33,000 sq ft), with underwater music, a swim‑up bar, in-water loungers, and peaceful coves tailored for families or adults looking to unwind .

For guests seeking exclusivity, Coco Beach Club offers an elevated beach day: oceanfront infinity pool, clubhouse dining, premium lounge seating, and the island’s first overwater cabanas — complete with private slides, hammocks, minibar, and dedicated concierge service .

Adults-only retreat? Check out Hideaway Beach, opened in early 2024, featuring an upscale pool area, DJ entertainment, cabanas, and beachfront bars like Slice of Paradise and On the Rocks .

Other highlights include the Up, Up & Away helium balloon ride that ascends to 450 ft for panoramic views, a 1,600‑ft zip line crossing the island, and water activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and beach sports at South Beach and Chill Island .

Dining is seamless with complimentary options like Skipper’s Grill and Chill Grill, plus full-service cuisine at Coco Beach Club and Hideaway Beach. Beverage packages purchased on board extend to most island outlets, including swim-up and floating bars .

Insider tips: • Book key experiences and cabanas in advance to avoid missing out. • Arrive early to avoid crowds at Thrill Waterpark or Oasis Lagoon. • Bring reef-safe sunscreen and a refillable bottle—you can get water and juice for free throughout the island .

In just 8–10 hours ashore, Perfect Day at CocoCay offers total flexibility: adrenaline-pumping slides, island serenity, upscale beachside luxury, or laid-back lounging. It’s the ideal day tailored to how you want to...

I recently had the opportunity to visit Royal Caribbean's private island destination, CocoCay, and it truly was a perfect day in paradise. From the moment I stepped off the ship, I was captivated by the breath taking beauty and endless possibilities for fun and relaxation.

First and foremost, the pristine beaches on CocoCay are absolutely stunning. The powdery white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters create a picture-perfect backdrop that feels like it belongs in a postcard. Whether you're lounging under a palm tree, taking a leisurely stroll along the shore, or diving into the inviting waves, the beach experience here is truly unparalleled.

The friendly staff members were always nearby, ensuring everyone's safety and providing assistance whenever needed. The Chill Island and South Beach areas also provided a serene atmosphere, where I could simply lay back and enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings.

When it came to dining, I was spoilt for choice. The island offers a range of delectable food options, from mouthwatering barbecue to international cuisine. I savored a delicious beachside lunch at the Snack Shack, indulging in freshly grilled burgers and flavorful tropical drinks. The service was exceptional, and the dining areas were clean and well-maintained.

Beyond the beaches and water activities, CocoCay boasts a plethora of entertainment and shopping options. I explored the local marketplace, where I found unique souvenirs and handmade crafts to bring back home. The live music performances and beachside games added to the lively atmosphere and created a vibrant ambiance throughout the day.

Royal Caribbean's attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction truly shines at CocoCay. The island is impeccably maintained, with clean facilities and attentive staff members who go above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. From the moment I stepped foot on the island until the time I reluctantly boarded the ship, I felt like I was in a paradise carefully curated for a perfect day of fun and relaxation.

If you're planning a cruise with Royal Caribbean, I highly recommend adding CocoCay to your itinerary. It's a slice of paradise that offers something for everyone, whether you're seeking adventure, relaxation, or simply a breathtaking beach escape. My visit to CocoCay was truly a highlight of my vacation, and I can't wait to return to this tropical haven again...
