We’ve been over to Harbour Island for over 30 years and have stayed at every imaginable hotel and or rental house on the island. This time we needed a magical dream location after 1.5 years locked down in NYC due to the pandemic. We were crying out for green like you’ve never seen it; fresh, fragrant and and airy ocean view. Lovely service, kindness and a beautiful location with baby powder sand beneath our feet. So Pink it was. I spoke with Kym the manager and I connected on the phone after booking the hotel. He was thoughtful, responsive and detail oriented. When we arrived he met us at the reception as did the crew who were very enthusiastic and pleasant. The room with a view was as we had booked it - and as I write this I am viewing the ocean. This wasn’t the first time we’ve stayed here. In fact this is our 10th time. But hands down the very best experience we’ve had at the Pink Sands despite the fact that it’s no longer a gem of a secret. The service has improved even higher than our last visit with call outs to Maradona, Vanessa, Sheena, Acia, Philippa and the chef who is wonderful. The rooms are well designed and deliciously comfortable. The beach is the very finest on earth and still relatively secluded. The only downside of this special island is the fact that everyone has to drive golf carts and increasingly cars around the island. When we first visited there were perhaps 4 on the entire island, now the traffic is a problem as is parking. We walk all over which lets you see more and enjoy little lovely experiences like the secret pathway from Valentine’s Dive Shop to Ramona Bay where you walk along the water. Yesterday we spotted turtles, stingrays and half dozen sharks alongside the pathway. Would have missed that in a flash golf cart. One of the very best experiences of this island and this wonderful hotel is the fact that the world slows down. Everyone living on Harbour Island should fight to keep it that way. It’s one of the greatest draws of the island. Progress doesn’t always bring better living experiences. But getting back to the Pink Sands, five stars and a great deal of...
Read moreOne the most beautiful pink sand beaches I’ve seen. The kids loved it. The Atlantic swells and waves are a bit rough for some. We’re used to that in the OBX.
Dive under the big waves and go over the smaller ones. Never turn your back to the ocean and always keep your knees bent and turn to let the waves hit the backs of your legs. This will save you from a blown out knee.
I still managed to lose my sunglasses because I got nailed when I broke my own rule and had my back to the ocean. I got decked by a big wave. The sand is so fine that it “muddies” the water in the surf and you can’t see the bottom.
I can recommend renting chairs and an umbrella from TeeJay’s as well as drinks and lunch. You can ride horses on the beach from the stables behind TeeJays also. This beach has a lot to offer. We showered after at Valentine’s Marina before heading back to our hotel on the...
Read moreIt’s not the best one in the world but worth visiting for sure— cuz everyone else went there: your loved ones probably want to check it out- not a problem: but don’t expect you will find the color you saw on the social media. If you live near the east coast of North America then it may be worth going. I met a tourists group there-they are retirees who flew all the way from China-USA-The Bahamas and finally got there ( probably took 18+ hours). I would rather go to somewhere easier to access if I were them. Anyway, it’s day (2019 Jan) with good memories still: relaxing place and clean beach. Only a few people, not too many family or young kids there on that day(but really windy and sunny). Drink can be purchased by the beach, and the staff are...
