The Fort de Pontisse is one of twelve forts built around Liège, Belgium, in the late 19th century. The overall Fortified Position of Liège was a constituent part of the country's National Redoubt. Fort de Pontisse was built between 1881 and 1884 according to the plans of General Henri Alexis Brialmont.

It is unrestored since it was dismantled in the late 50s so there's not much to see and the large gun pits have been fenced off although you can get inside one of them and of course the whole area will get fenced in by the local farmer who's donkeys now occupied the site so make sure you communicate with him if you look around that he does not lock you in:-) but it's an interesting place to visit if you have an hour stop by and go through since it was built 40 years prior to World War one and...
