Recreatiepark De Ster - the pond of the Star For Tourist, that would like to visit the Recreatienpark: Everything ist written in Dutch, also the website. Book your tickets via the website, queue up half an hour and realize in front of the checkin, that you only enter the park with an ID. So: you really have to bring your ID with you, otherwise there is no way to enter the park (we had to drive back to our hotel and get them). And you have to bring all of the IDs of your children, too. About swimming: it's crazy: there are about 4-5 baywatch-stations, monitoring the sectors. If one of them has to go to the toilet, the sector closes and all the swimmers have to leave the sector immediately! They put the red flag, blow the whistle and wave around in the air, till you leave.
Bring money enough with you! Inside the park - in some of the attractions they are not yet able to let you pay by card. In the AQUAPARK JUMP you could use an app, but unfortunately only, if you are in the Belgian sections of the I-Store. For the huge water slide, that asks 2 Euro for one slide, you can pay with card. Can be very crowded in the summer vacation specially during warmer days. I was impressed with the toilet, clean and with paper/handsoap. Restaurants available inside the park. Read moreIt's surprising that people who live outside Sint Niklaas don't know about this place. This is an excellent park, beach, zoo, natural landscape and many other things. The entire area is refreshing and is well maintained. Kids love this place and can easily spend 3-4 hours here.
It's usually crowded here on the weekends especially if the day is sunny.
The entry fees for residents of Sint Niklaas (or Oost Vlaanderen, not sure) are lower than the ones who are living outside...
