Last week of August 2024:
We got there by shuttle bus jam packed. Beach was beautiful as per other reviews but super crowded. Not much trash in beach but saw one broken glass bottle. Beach is free but you wait on long line to pay for beach chair. Bathroom has changing area it was filthy from all the tourists leaving trash including dirty diapers. There is a tiny bar area to accommodate all the tourists but be prepared to wait more than 30 minutes to bring it back to beach to eat it. Bathroom was closed after 2pm for cleaning luckily we had portable potty for my 3 year old. There is a rinse off area with about 5-6 faucets but the first one was broken so the whole beach had to line up to rinse. There was a highly stressed out women doing majority of the work she was the main person taking in payment for beach chairs, selling bottled water behind register, etc. I went back just to buy 2 bottles of water they charged $4 per bottle. I asked her if I needed to get back on the long line for it, she was kind enough to tell me to wait on the side instead of getting on the line. After I paid $10 for the water I waited for my $2 change. I noticed she opened the register several times without handing me my change, she noticed I was still waiting there for my change and got agitated saying I'm not gonna sell you water next time, etc etc non stop muttering to herself. We stayed only about 2 hours so that we can go back to our cruise ship on time for 5pm dinner. We took public transportation which had to be timed precisely, the baby stroller was painfully pushed back up each steps (not stroller friendly). The coins for bus were pre purchased...
Read morePink sands. many coves.. crystal clear water.. this place is a paradise. Even though the beach is crowded, just walk a little bit towards the left and you will find a multitude of secluded coves. Endless pink sand and clear water makes this place unforgettable.
We didn’t spend much time at the main beach but spend a lot of time at the coves. It is fun going from one cove to another.
There is a very good public bus connection to this beach. every 30 mins. Buses are good and highly recommended. They cost about $7 from/to the Dockyard ( cruise ships are docked here) Once you get down from the bus you have to walk towards your right to reach the beach. It is a bit of walk over well maintained boards. Though the walk itself is not very difficult and get a bit boring. However if you venture into the trails close by it gets a bit adventurous.
And dont forget the friendly shack at the busstop. The owner of the shack is super good.
One can easily spend half a day here. If you are interested in exploring the coves, you can comfortably spend the full day. Be sure to get enough water because once you are at the beach you need to walk quite a lot...
Read moreThis beach is truly exceptional- not so much for the locals though; the ocean liner day trips crowd this beach to the limit. No need to worry though; this sovereign Island seems to do just fine with her Majesty. The Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bermuda is unique. The water is crystal clear, there are many small fish indigenous to the coral reefs surrounding the island and the sand is pink; not a hue of pink or a reflection off the sun off of the outcropping of stone that boldly extends out from the shoreline. HBB is considered small when compared with popular resort beaches, smaller than Wai-Ki-Ki beach, Hawaii sans the volcanic glass; still smaller than the beach in Paradise Island, the Bahamas, however the types of sand are exactly the same- a soft powdery, not granular sand just like the J&J baby powder I have fond memories & many other babies having been adorned with. Aside from the bay I cannot leave out the pastel- colored rooftops and buildings and palm trees unlike anywhere , not so tall however at least five feet in diameter with...
