If you want a really classy dining experience then go here. Known for their Filet Mignon. A cozy, old, old (300 year old) structure is home to Fairmont Southamptonās āWaterlot Inn.ā We dined after sunset so didnāt enjoy the incredible views offered here. The Fairmont shuttle whisks you down and upon our arrival (a group seating) we were greeted with cocktails, champagne and two Hors dāoeuvres choices, shrimp croquettes or vegetable parcels! Both deep fried and Tasty bites. After some time we were led down the stairs to our group seating area. A little snug but these old buildings arenāt generous with square footage and the washrooms are back up stairs near where you came in. Fortunately the seating is comfortable because the time to have our orders taken, prepped and served seemed way too long. But then again this is fine dining not fast food. The onion soup was the best ever! Caesar salad was very bland. Temperatures of some items, the filet mignon, the chicken were less than hot. The tastes and textures of both were superb. I recommend the Merlot (liquid velvet) as opposed to the Pinot (too acidic) Theyāre known for having an excellent wine selection. For dessert, I tried an Apple Galette. It disappeared! Everyone at my table who had this had the same result. As for the people who tried the Sticky Toffee pudding, all left most of it but ate the ice cream. Seems it was just too sweet. After eating here one cannot help but realize itās no surprise the inhabitants who ate like this 300 years ago didnāt see their 50th birthdays. Itās a celebration spot so be prepared to be 5 pounds more Hefty and $500 less wealthy (give or take) when all is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe most snobbish place Iāve seen in my life. Eating out is a significant part of my vacation and I have never encountered such an attitude in an upscale food service industry. I was renting an apartment in a walking distance to the Waterlot Inn restaurant. One of the evenings my pregnant wife asked me to get her something sweet. ānot a problem dear, Iāll take a walk down the street and get you a desert to goā. Sounds like a solid plan, eh? Not so fast... hereās how the conversation went with a waiter/receptionist by the bar hi sir, could you please get me xxx desert to go? unfortunately we donāt serve food to go interesting... (then pause, hoping he can figure out some sort of solution. After a long silence and no desire of the waiter to come up with anything) - and if your guest sits down for a meal and does not finish it, would you help him with a to-go container? that is a different situation. Yes, we would perfect! (I was excited we figured this one out). Then Iād take a table for a minute and not finish my desert, does that work? unfortunately thereās nowhere to sit you, we are fully booked (I took a look across a dead empty bar area with tables and couches) - I could sit down for a minute right here we do not serve food in here you do realize that I am not looking for food, but a desert I can take with me, right? unfortunately we donāt serve food here anything you can do to help figure this one out? unfortunately thereās nothing I can do sir, this is the most ridiculous conversation Iāve ever had in a restaurant oh is it? yup, it is... have a good night. And let social...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFantastic taste of Bermuda! This is one of those special occasion restaurants that is perfect to celebrate a milestone. It's cozy and has the feel of a high end private club. There is an upstairs full bar with a few tables if you want to grab a cocktail or need to wait for anyone. Then you decend the staircase into the dining area that has some semi private spaces for larger parties of six to twelve people. You can see the sunset over the marina from some of the tables. The menu is high end fare priced a la carte. I've tried a few entrees, almost all of the sides and all of the deserts which are unique and all are excellent. Be prepared to pay for the experience. Most dinners will hit $100 if you get a salad, side, and top your steak with a sauce. Drinks start around $16 and rise quickly as they have a nice wine list. There is an outdoor bar here as well called the Dock at Waterlot that serves tiny apps like sliders and fish tacos. These are perfect if you are on a supermodel diet. Each of the three couples ended up getting four or five apps and after a couple drinks each, the bill added up to over $130. a couple. Anything at the Fairmont, or Bermuda for that matter is expensive. But you have to pay to play. I would recommend the Waygu sliders. all of us agreed that those were phenomenal. And the experience out on the dock at sunset under the palm trees really locks you in to...
