My friend and I ate here at Gulfstream Restaurant five nights in a row (the entirety of our stay). We stayed at a nearby VRBO and didn't have transportation other than the local bus so loved that we could stroll there and back at night and feel safe.
The restaurant had sushi and other dishes, but we focused on the Italian dishes. We had the chicken parmigiana, spaghetti with Bolognese sauce, Gulfstream Alfredo with chicken, shrimp and scallops with vodka cream sauce, lasagna, and pizza. We also had the garlic bread, bruschetta, Caesar salad, and green salad with tomato and balsamic dressing--and sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla gelato as well as rum swizzles and Gulfstream planter's punch (their own twist on the island 's swizzle) and limoncello. We can recommend them all. Nothing fell flat for us.
There is not space to review all of these dishes. To summarize, though, our pizza (the Carnivore) was the most impressive thin crust pizza I have ever eaten-- a nicely browned and tender crisp caramelized crust that stood up well to the toppings (nothing soggy or droopy, the toppings and crust not overwhelming each other in amounts or flavors). I wish I could spend a day in the kitchen learning their secret.
The other dishes were solidly executed with good ingredients. The bread was ciabatta-like and I loved that the Caesar salad included anchovies if desired, but I could have enjoyed a bit more garlic in each. (I admit I enjoy more garlic than an average diner and have been known to request a fresh clove or two or it on the side.).
I am not normally a dessert eater but the sticky toffee pudding was executed carefully--it managed to keep strong flavors light and delicate--and it had me searching the Internet for a recipe I can try out at home.
Service was excellent, especially after they saw us return each night.
Normally, I would like sampling several local places, but Gulfstream was just too convenient and good to wander out by bus or taxi, seeking other places to eat.
Prices ran higher than we are used to, but they are typical for Bermuda. If we are ever back in the Horseshoe Bay area of Bermuda, we...
Read moreAfter an invigorating hike up the hill from Horseshoe Bay Beach, we stumbled upon Gulfstream restaurant, not expecting the culinary delight that awaited us. Our experience was nothing short of extraordinary.
The moment we stepped in, we were welcomed with warm, friendly service that set the tone for the rest of our visit. The ambiance was perfect – a blend of relaxed island vibes and elegant dining.
The food at Gulfstream is truly exceptional. As a resident of the Ocean State, I’ve had my fair share of seafood, but the calamari here is the best I’ve ever tasted. Perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, it was seasoned to perfection. Each bite was a revelation.
The sushi at Gulfstream deserves special mention. Fresh, expertly crafted, and utterly delicious, it left us contemplating a move to Bermuda just to enjoy it regularly. The presentation was stunning, and the flavors were out of this world.
The drinks were fantastic as well. Each cocktail was a perfect balance of flavors, refreshing and expertly mixed. Whether you’re a fan of classic drinks or looking to try something new, Gulfstream’s bar does not disappoint.
Overall, our visit to Gulfstream was an unforgettable experience. The combination of outstanding food, impeccable service, and a beautiful location makes it a must-visit spot. If you find yourself near Horseshoe Bay Beach, do yourself a favor and hike up to Gulfstream – you...
Read morePrices at this restaurant are comparable to prices at all Bermuda restaurants. Higher than you would like but comparable to the competition. The food here was very good. We concentrated on appetizers because the portions are generous and our appetites are not what they used to be. We particularly liked the buffalo cauliflower. The management and staff were very friendly during our seven day stay at a nearby VRBO. We ate at this restaurant four times. My only complaint is that on our last day there we made reservations and when we arrived, were told we needed to sit outside. There was a strong breeze, and we had not dressed for outside eating. We asked to be seated inside and were told that it was not possible. Finally when we threatened to leave because of the uncomfortable dining conditions, they managed to find space for us inside. Everything after that went well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting this beautiful island. One last thing. The chocolate lava cake dessert was exceptional. It comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They call it something different but you can...
