I started from the village square and walked the path along the west side of the river. To get to the waterfall is 3km, parts of the walk are without shade (50/50). I was with a 6&3 year old. I walked til the cave and stopped there. There are bats in the cave. There was no bridges to cross the river as I could see, it seems all have been washed away in floods, including the cable suspension bridge close to the village. From the cave, continue along the river and then walk up the canyon on a steep path within 100m. At the top there is a walk that leads back to the main road (left), or further into the canyon. At this point the drop off is steep, and the path is narrow. It was not dangerous but I was holding on to the kids tightly. After a few hundred metres you are back in the shade, follow the path for another 600m and then take the blue path down to the waterfall (at the bottom of the canyon, you will need to walk back up the river about 100m to find the large pool, which is pleasantly shaded and has an impressive rock wall all around it). Coming back we stayed high on west side of the canyon and walked back along the road into the village. As far as I can see there is no route to walk on the east side of the river. The entire walk took 4 hours, with the kids. There was enough rock clambering elements to keep it interesting for the kids (just about). There was no water on the way and it was tough going with the heat, but worth it. On a Tuesday in August, I met around 6 other groups doing...
Read moreNice eco trail but not near the water as expected for a canyon "trail" but mostly on top of the rock. Even so, the views were super nice, the walk was easy and fun, and the waterfall at the end very rewarding 😊 the path is quite intuitive, the signs are missing from time to time, and multiple paths were created over time, but you can't miss the destination, I would say. If you follow Google maps with destination Emen Canyon, you will end up at the end of a village, don't miss the sign near a suspended bridge, Eco trail, that is the staring point. Follow the path to the right and from the bridge and back, you will not make more then 2 hrs, with visiting the cave, pictures, breaks and snack at the waterfall. If you follow Google maps with destination Eco trail Emen then the starting point will be on the main road, you will see the path through the treea, short walk through the woods and you'll find yourself in notime above the canyon and about 10 min far from the previous starting point. Hope...
Read moreNice but very short walk along the canyon, takes about 30 minutes from the Emen village to the waterfall. There's an impressive cave at the beginning of the path. There are two ways to get down to the waterfall from the point where the path starts descending: the path on the right is shorter but very steep, the path marked with blue markings on the left is much easier on the knees. Sadly, the waterfall and most of the canyon were completely dry in October. If you look down into the canyon from the cliffs, you can see dilapidated old wooden fences and bridges crossing the canyon. It's a shame these are no longer functional. All in all, worth stopping by if you're in the area, but I wouldn't really go out of my...
