We recently visited the Lakeland Flowers Tulip Festival in Abbotsford, traveling approximately an hour and a half to attend. The tulip fields were undeniably stunning—thoughtfully planted and beautifully arranged, offering a vibrant and immersive springtime experience. Creative photo opportunities, including two grand pianos set amongst the flowers, showcased the effort and imagination the owners have put into creating a memorable attraction.
Parking was another highlight—despite the large crowd, it was well-organized and efficiently managed.
However, several aspects detracted significantly from the overall experience. The admission fee of nearly $26 per person felt excessive, especially when compared to other local attractions such as VanDusen Botanical Garden in Vancouver, which charges $15.05 per adult during peak season and offers access to a 55-acre garden with extensive amenities.
The festival was extremely crowded, which appeared to overwhelm the food vendors, resulting in long waits and limited availability. Most concerning was the state of the sanitation facilities. The portable toilets were severely neglected—unsanitary, poorly stocked, and clearly not monitored throughout the day. Overflowing garbage bins across the site further contributed to a sense of disorganization and a lack of basic upkeep.
While the tulip displays were beautiful and a testament to the owners' vision, the lack of attention to guest amenities, combined with high ticket prices, left us disappointed. At this price point, visitors reasonably expect clean facilities and adequate crowd...
Read moreThe flowers were really beautiful, tickets were $21 each, very reasonably priced for the experience. Food trucks were a great addition as well, especially the lemonade from lemon heaven and the roasted corn on the cob were delicious. Though, I understand that there are a high volume of people and the workers are out all day, there were some customer service decisions that ensures I never come back. The ticket purchase came with free flowers (2 bundles per person). This is theoretically a very awesome thing if handled right. However, the workers were very rude and were just shoving them, quite crudely, and rudely into people. I would have happily paid for the flowers, or preferred just straight up NOT getting free flowers to skip the poor interaction. At the end, I asked on the side to a few workers if it’s possible to exchange one for a different colour (note: There’s an abundance of all the colours, they were not busy with another task, just on the side chatting) An older lady was really kind and said it’s okay, and was about to help, when a younger one suddenly interrupted her and refused rudely. I thanked them both and left. This interaction ruined my experience here. Does “free” mean that it justifies / excuses the poor attitude and rudeness? Hope that the organizers can train up their staff to act professionally without abusing their power while delivering adequate...
