Gehringer Brothers My girlfriend and I were on vacation through Okanagan wine country. Over six days, we visited sixty wineries. You can follow our various locations with this disclaimer. That’s sixty wineries, not an exaggeration. We ended the trip with 120 bottles acquired. I’m not going to lie, Gehringer Brothers does somewhat fall under the shadow of the larger and more extravagant Hester Creek. But I would not dismiss Gehringer Brothers in any way, and I would never visit Hester without also visiting Gehringer. I mean who would travel such a distance and skip one? So, there is no competition here. More likely, this is a shark / remora metaphor, a mutually beneficial relationship, verified by all the employees at Gehringer possessing suckermouths. In reflection, they might have been aliens… …okay…admittedly, by that point in the day, I had ingested a lot of alcohol, so the last observation may not have been accurate. Regardless if the staff were secretly smuggling their pre-metamorphosis offspring in bottles of wine in hopes of an eventual global takeover via our fascination with fermented grape juice, the winery is not bad to look at, a traditional front of house sporting the requisite tasting bar and various bottles spackling the walls. Though I will say my specific host was one of the better encountered this day, and that says a lot. It was packed when we arrived, but the host still made time, and by the end of the experience, we picked up a few bottles, though most were smaller late harvest desert wines. Don’t knock it, by the end of this trip, I got to love these, as well as the ports, ice-wines and botrytized wines. The cabernet franc late harvest was a favorite and one that will find a permanent place in my collection. I also liked the displayed where they highlighted the history of their labels. Gehringer Brothers is another great winery in a great region, and with its proximity to Hester Creek, it’s one you dare not miss. Just keep a watchful eye for those ovipositors.

My friends and I came through here on July 29. We loved this winery. It was one of the first four wineries in BC. Now there are several hundred. How times have changed. We came in shortly before they closed and were after the rush of customers. We had an excellent server. The tasting fee is free! We still tipped afterwards because it was a normal tasting of five wines, and found ourselves riddled with guilt if we hadn't paid a dime. We highly recommend this spot!

Fantastic winery with delicious wine and friendly staff. Must stop! Make sure your try the ice wine, tasting is free and extra $2 for ice wine. I would happily pay $20 for tasting here. Defiantly worth it. We will be back, thank you for the most amazing visit.

I don't often make a point to post reviews, however I am an Okanagan transplant for about a decade and have been to just about all of the wineries and seen changes throughout the years. We had a fantastic host who explained that the goal of Gehringer Brothers was to make "excellent, affordable wines." This is exactly what they do in my view too, a beautiful property but truly the most attention is on the quality of the wine itself; and they have also kept prices reasonably contained to what things should cost and remain at a good value (when most all other wineries are priced at significantly inflated costs especially in the last 3 or 4 years.) Gehringer is fantastic, and a bit of a unicorn with this simple vision that I have a lot of appreciation for. We will be back and will be ordering cases in between visits! All the wines we tried were fantastic, you...

So if anyone has read my reviews before.... they are going to notice I'm a sucker for dessert wines. Though I loved Gehringer's Old Vine Auxerrois, and their other whites are quite nice and well priced, I couldn't get the Late Harvest Riesling, the -9 Ehrenfelser, and the Riesling Icewine out of my mind.

But I shouldn't forget to mention the tasting. They were very accommodating, letting us try any of the their wines on the tasting sheet with no tasting fee (unless you wanted to try their Icewines which was a $2 fee, but would be refunded upon purchase). The service was great, super relaxed, and insightful. Definitely a recommend for...
