Dear Management,
I wanted to bring to your attention a matter that I believe requires immediate review.
My wife and I recently returned to your property after a number of years, this time as guests in the villas. We were looking forward to dining at your restaurant and had made a reservation for dinner. Unfortunately, the experience left us quite disappointed due to the surprisingly poor food quality.
To be clear, the villa accommodations are excellent and the front-of-house service was exceptional. Brittney, our server, was attentive, professional, and provided outstanding service—we truly appreciated her. However, what stood out starkly was the lack of flavour and execution in the food, which was consistent across multiple dishes.
Specific Observations:
Beet appetizer – Well-prepared and enjoyable. No complaints.
Smoked Pulled Pork Pizza – The menu contains inconsistencies (some pizzas are labeled as such, others are not). More importantly, the pizza was flavourless. There was no visible sauce layer, and the white sauce was only lightly drizzled over the lettuce topping—far too subtle to contribute meaningfully to the dish. The overall result was dry and bland.
Fettuccine Pasta (Main) – Shockingly, this dish tasted nearly identical to the pizza: lacking any distinct flavour, seasoning, or depth. It felt like an oversight rather than a crafted meal.
Frankly, something in your kitchen appears to be fundamentally off. Whether it’s a recipe issue, quality control lapse, or inconsistent execution, I encourage you to have someone from management taste the dishes currently being served. I also suggest a thorough audit of food preparation standards and seasoning practices. A review of your recent online reviews shows others have reported similar concerns—this is not an isolated incident.
We love the resort and hope to continue returning in the future. But the current food quality is not reflective of the overall excellence we’ve experienced in other areas of your property. I’m confident your team can address this, and I hope to see clear improvements on our next...
Read moreHester creek is a great winery and the Terafina restaurant has some amazing food. We stopped there mid afternoon when the temperature was about 35 deg C and were pleasently surprised by the great grape vine pergola covering the outdoor dining area. My 4 year old daughter delighted at seeing the grapes hanging overhead and watching the leaves waving overhead.
We started with the meat and cheese share plate which came with a nice assortment of breads, olives, and of course, some meat and cheese. While it all tasted great it was not as varied of an assortment as some other Charcuterie boards we have had at other places.
One of our other dishes were the ceaser salad which was just about as perfect as s ceaser salad can be. Just the right amount of dressing with a nice garlic bite. It also han some nice crisp bacon and shavings of parietal cheese to top it all off. Ceaser salad is often a go to for a hot afternoon light lunch and this one really hit the spot.
The last part of our meal was a cheesy and fresh Margherita pizza which, of course, was my daughters favorite. It had lots of cheese with roasted tomatoes and big pieces of basil. My wife used to live in Italy and she said this is one of the closest to true Italian Margherits pizzas she has ever had outside Italy.
Overall the lunch was great and even though we did not order any of their main course meals we all came away very satisfied and really enjoyed our afternoon respite from the heat.
What kind of a winery restaurant review would it be without talking about the wine? I am more of a beer guy so I had a local craft pale ale which really hit the spot and my wife had the Hester Rose' which was perfect for sipping on a hot afternoon.
The tasting room was booked for reserve only and we have been here a few times before to taste their offerings so we skipped the full tasting this time and just satisfied ourselves with a great lunch, with a great view, and a couple of great drinks.
If you have the opportunity to stop for a quick bite and refreshment I definitely recommend you...
Read moreIt was our first time at this restaurant/winery. It exceeded our expectations. To start off we went for a tasting. We explained that we only had time to try three wines as our reservation was coming up soon. They poured us our first glass while we were waiting in line and then when we got to the counter we asked to try her two favourite whites. The three wines that we tried did not disappoint. We actually ended up ordering one of her recommendations, which was the Trebbiano with our dinner. Our waitress was probably the best we’ve ever had. Super attentive and always made sure our water was topped off (it’s the little things). We started with the charcuterie board and added some cheese to the board as recommended by our waitress. She gave us three options for cheese so we asked her to surprise us and she brought a chive cheese. Excellent choice. For our mains, I ordered the lamb sirloin and my friend ordered the chicken. For dessert you can’t go wrong with the Tiramisu. I ordered the Affogato.
I wish that there were more photos of the food on the menu as I’m a visual eater. Something like a digital scrapbook for the menu or a pinned story of the dishes the kitchen puts out on their Instagram …maybe that’s the millennial in me talking.
Overall, we had the best experience and would love to come back. If you are thinking of only visiting a few wineries around Oliver, I couldn’t recommend this place enough. Friendly staff, great service, delicious food and wine. Their patio is also spectacular if you get the chance to...
