We enjoy the park for its natural beauty, ease of access, and off-leash areas. However, I do think the City should invest in better off-leash infrastructure in terms of better quality fencing, trails, and gates, as they have done with the Southland off-leash park, to help maintain harmony amongst all park users. It seems quite unbalanced given that NW Calgary homeowners pay the highest property taxes, and yet the only truly well-set-up dog park in the city is in the Southeast, which is an awfully long drive for us to walk our dogs when Bowmont is so close. This is the star I dock this rating. Otherwise, this park is beautiful, I love the work that has been done in terms of building ponds, protecting trees and habitat, creating better...
Read moreExcellent easy going nature walk!
The walk starts off a little boring and mostly boring hills but once you’re in the actual park it’s a very nice nature walk.
You can go to the pond first if you’d like but you can skip the pond and go straight to the river for more nature action. Staying on the paved path will lead you to the river. Explore mini trail walks in and around the park, it’s fairly easy to get back on track so don’t worry too much about getting lost.
We went here on May 2020 and the fences weren’t locked as well so you can explore more if you wanted to. Sunset walks are the best here!
You’ll see some wild life for sure like ducks, geese, birds and beavers! Definitely recommend going here and exploring for a...
Read moreI did not realize we had visited bowmont park. We had however visited waterfall valley. But now I know that bowmont park is waterfall valley. So, we loved bowmont park! At this time of year, December, it is quite something. The waterfalls are mostly ice but not completely, and trickling streams drip below. The ice does make it a bit slippery, so you have to walk carefully. The only drawback of the area is that there is an off leash area, which would be fine, but it is strangely marked. It seems like some of the paths are off leash and others are not, but the paths come close to crossing one another in spots and dogs cannot read. So you are not quite sure where you might run into a...
