I'll be honest (as usual), I had no idea this place existed, until it was chosen as the meeting place for a first date (we can talk about that later...).
I didn't have the chance to fully explore Pearce, but I did see most of it and that was enough to feel confident sharing my thoughts.
First off, whatever time you're planning on visiting the park, go earlier. The reason being that availability of parking spots can shrink in a hurry and leave you to either find a spot outside the grounds or get very creative in making your own.
The park will suit just about any need - if it's a large gathering, there are plenty of wide, flat, shaded spots to set up a tent and chairs etc. You'll see one of these areas as soon as you climb out of the vehicle you've proudly parked at an ingenious angle.
If it's a smaller affair, then there are tons of choices besides the big areas - a popular choice is to follow the paths and clearly marked signposts until you reach the river. Here you can find plenty of spots to sit among the rocks lining the banks - dipping toes is optional but completely free of charge.
As long as you've brought a life preserver and a raft or inflatable, this is also the place to start a river adventure from - a warning to parents though, there are a couple of places in the water that serve as 'mini rapids' and although it's entertaining to watch other kids get shot out of these spots and sent splashing further down the river, results may differ if the child in question belongs to you. Definitely worth keeping a close eye on them.
One of the best things about Pearce is not only its size but the variety of spots to throw a blanket down - there always seemed to be an option to either socialise with other groups or enjoy the peace and quiet further away. It's got a solid network of pathways and you'll find signposts regularly, making it easy to figure out how to get from A to B. The park was very clean and well maintained, adding to the aesthetics.
I didn't have the chance to use the facilities while at Pearce, so I can't comment on the state or how easy they are to find - although I suppose I could have copied a kid I saw just emptying his bladder into the river.....I hear you, where's an undertow when you need one hey ? 😐 I'm kidding of course, I shouldn't joke about that over something like peeing in a river.......but come to think of it, he didn't wash his hands, so yeah I'm thinking undertow again. Manners count 😬
Right, apologies for rambling, all in all I'd recommend Pearce to anyone - whether you've got a family reunion, kids birthday party or you're trying to find happiness on a first date, there's a spot for everyone. You may not have heard of it, but I doubt you'll forget it once you've enjoyed a lazy summer afternoon or an energizing swim.
Once you've had your fill, there are plenty of options for dining and some truly unique stores to shop at in neighbouring Inglewood, only a ten minute walk from the park.
Carve out some time for yourself, friends or family and treat yourself to some natural decompression down at Pearce, it's well worth...

Read moreI went over the weekend to the park for a walk and had an amazing time. This place is maintained very well with great signage. There are picnic tables available close to the parking lot. It is a quiet place to spend time with friends and family within the city limits. Lots of birds, trees and shaded areas to walk through. Make sure to check out the Harvie passage lookout, a 5 minute walk from the parking lot. A great place to spent time by the water. Lots of room for picnicking or walking on the stones right next to the Bow river. Washrooms (flush toilets) are open seasonally and porta-potties available closer to the Harvie passage. The parking lot though decent sized, can get filled up quickly and people don’t follow the rules and park wherever they can. Overall, I loved visiting the park and would love to visit the...
