Visiting here was an extraordinary experience that left me in awe of nature's boundless beauty and rejuvenated my spirit. From the moment I entered the park's serene realm, I felt a sense of tranquility envelop me, providing an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

One of the most remarkable features of this place is its stunning natural landscapes. Towering trees, vibrant wildflowers, and rolling hills greeted me at every turn, creating an exquisite tapestry of colors and textures. The park's diverse ecosystems allowed me to explore a range of environments, from lush forests to sparkling lakeshores, each offering its own unique charm and wonder.

The park's extensive network of trails was a true delight for both novice and seasoned hikers. As I ventured along winding paths, I encountered breathtaking vistas and hidden treasures around every corner. Whether I was ambling through sun-dappled groves or conquering a challenging ascent to a panoramic lookout, the trails always rewarded me with a sense of accomplishment and the chance to connect with nature on a deeper level.

Wildlife enthusiasts will find themselves in paradise. The abundance of native species ensured that every outing was a chance to encounter fascinating creatures in their natural habitats. From the graceful flight of an eagle overhead to the playful scamper of squirrels among the treetops, the park's inhabitants added an extra touch of magic to my experience. I was lucky enough to spot deer gracefully meandering through the meadows and hear the distant calls of loons echoing across the tranquil lakes.

Moreover, Long Lake offers excellent amenities to enhance visitors' comfort and enjoyment. Well-maintained picnic areas, clean restroom facilities, and conveniently located observation points are just a few of the thoughtful touches that showcase the park's commitment to ensuring a pleasant and immersive experience for all visitors. The visitor center proved to be an invaluable resource, with friendly and knowledgeable staff who eagerly shared insights about the park's natural and cultural significance.

During my visit, I also took advantage of the various recreational activities offered by the park. Whether it was kayaking along the crystal-clear waters, casting a line into a serene fishing spot, or simply unwinding with a leisurely bike ride, there was always something to engage in that perfectly complemented the serenity of the surroundings.

In conclusion, my visit to Long Lake was nothing short of extraordinary. It awakened my senses, rekindled my appreciation for nature's marvels, and left me with cherished memories that will last a lifetime. I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking solace, adventure, and a deeper connection with the natural world. A journey through [Provincial Park] is a testament to the resplendence of our planet and a reminder of the importance of preserving these precious environments for...

As someone that loves this park, I have definitely seen the slow decline in the park. Me and my family have been coming here for aslong as I can remember, and even before I was born; when the first trails were placed. I'll say this, people that give these trails a 1 star have these complaints, dogs, garbage, and construction, and all of these points have credence, though I don't thinks it's as bad as people say.

Much of the garbage is due to it being inside Halifax, and the lake bringing trash from the aforementioned construction, so much of it would be hard to stop, though the could install WAY more trash bins. As a Dog owner myself I do hate it when people don't pick up after their dog, as it's so easy, and so helpful and good for the wider environment. Other than that though dog owners should deffently be on-leash more, and should be watched by their owners, but at the end of the day, this lake is meant to be dog-friendly, and if you hate animals, or are scared of Dogs, just try to stick to the main trails. Long lake pretty well being inside Halifax means that there will be a lot of construction, and this definitely affects the water/the lake it's self. I wont lie, especially before COVID, I saw a lot of debris washing up on shore, though it has calmed down. Again, this park is in Halifax, so it's impossible not to have trash issues, though there are ways the city, and the wider province could alleviate the problems at hand. At the end of the day the only real complaint I have is just the fact that half the people that walk their dog there end up never picking up after the dog.

TLDR: Long lake is beautiful, it's a great hike, and a great place for dogs just make sure you follow...

First time kayak renting within the city (only my second or third time in general) and it was an amazing experience! The online booking was simple, and at the time of booking, my friend and I both signed the waivers and we were off to the races. Upon arrival, we left one personal item each at the counter, grabbed a paddle and life jacket and we're led to our kayak. As I had previous experience with the kayak, the staff briefly did a breakdown of what to expect and we were off to feel the find in our hair. The lake is absolutely stunning , especially for being in the city. The peacefulness we felt while being out there was a blessing. The equipment was all sanitized, the staff was lovely, the experience was lovely and I highly recommend visiting the kayak rental to new and experienced water-sport enthusiasts. We had a touch of a hard time finding parking but there are spots around if you look within walking distance. Thanks so much to the staff for a lovely experience!!!

I live a 4 minute walk from her and so it's like having a lake inj my backyard. Its GREAT for swimming, with many spots along the trails to stop AND take a dip and the waters great! But, it is very 4OCKY on the beaches and in the water. Water shoes or sandals recommended if youre there to lounge and tan and dip. Theres a rental kayak business too. Get prices to go paddle the lake. And at the spryfield trail end, you can see the old dam. Very awesome to camp out on the beaches at night, or the forest if you like. During hot summer days, the lake is busy. Theres A LOT OF LITTLE beaches but anywhere close to the main entrance, to blue lberry beach entrance to spryfield entrance are usually taken. I fish. And you can catch bass, brooke trout and eels here. That's what I have faith here before. But not many actual catches as it takes a long time.

The vault toilet in the parking was accessible (yay!) but very dirty (I actually almost vomited) and had no bathroom tissue available. At least there was sanitizer. I didn't use it but I wanted to bathe in alcohol after stepping inside. Luckily, there was a royal flush toilet at the other entrance which was in much better condition. Other than that experience, it was really lovely! Good size parking lot, though it was packed full. Lots of bike racks and garbage cans. The maps weren't especially helpful, though. It shows the trails but I couldn't determine distances. I would go back but I need more information about the lengths of the trails before attempting them.
