We chose the grounds at the Fieldcote Memorial Park and Museum as the venue for our outdoors wedding of approximately 180 guests. We hired a company to set up a tent on the lawn in front of the bandshell, and had food trucks drive into the parking lot to cater for the wedding. We communicated with Brandi at Fieldcote and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was extremely helpful in guiding us with the booking process, and provided excellent advice on many aspects of planning other details of the wedding. The venue itself was fantastic. There were many little spots around the museum and the grounds that our wedding photographer was able to pick out and use for pictures. We were incredibly happy that we were able to have our wedding at Fieldcote, our guests loved it, and we would recommend it highly as a venue to others who would like to do a DIY wedding. A few considerations for any others who are considering Fieldcote as a venue for an event: 1) Given the residential neighbourhood, no loud music is permitted past 11PM (this was perfectly acceptable to us), 2) Parking capacity onsite is limited and the nearby church (a 2 minute walk away) is willing to rent out parking spots if you contact them ahead of time, 3) The one bathroom in the museum can develop a line up depending on the number of guests present – consider renting portable bathrooms, 4) Depending on the weather, your guests will appreciate if you have sunscreen and bug spray available...
Read moreA hidden gem in Ancaster — peaceful, scenic, and full of local character. The museum is small but thoughtfully curated, with rotating exhibits that highlight Ancaster’s history and culture. During my visit, I saw Timeless Treasures, a lovely collection featuring local landscapes and historical pieces.
The real highlight for me was the surrounding park: beautifully landscaped gardens, quiet forest trails, and a calming atmosphere that feels worlds away from the city. It’s a perfect spot for a walk, reading under a tree, or photography.
Staff were welcoming and knowledgeable. There’s also a good variety of events here throughout the year — including summer concerts and community workshops.
A few things to note: the museum has limited hours (generally noon to 4pm, closed Mondays), and some of the trails are uneven — not ideal for strollers or wheelchairs. Parking is available, but could get tight during events.
Overall, a fantastic place to unwind and learn about Ancaster’s roots. Great for families, history buffs, and anyone looking for a quiet cultural escape. I’ll definitely be back.
📸 Pro tip: Bring a camera — the gardens and wooded paths are beautiful in any season.

Read moreI went here with my wife for open doors Hamilton, it's alright, a fairly short tour but they did have a lot of crafts and activities , definetly geared towards a younger audience so for that I will still fully recommend it for kids and teens. Cool art work hung around the activities room too. I did get the chance to make a vase outta clay so that's kinda fun, would have been even more fun if I made a bagel outta dough but beggars cant be choosers. Upon tasting my vase I must say that while beggars cant be choosers, clay is still not an acceptable substitute for good old boiled and baked...
